Which do you think will sell more over the long haul? 7" or 10" tablet?

I believe in the long run portability and weight will factor in. I have a messenger bag built to hold an iPad and even with only that my shoulder feels it after carrying it for a period of time. Not as much as hauling the MBP around of course but noticeable.

Bigger screen does have it's uses but Apple would not have gone to the smaller one if they didn't see the market going that way.

10" tablet 20 26.32%

I'm surprise that the 7" is winning by a 3:1 margin in this very informal poll.

The mini with a retina, and ios with widgets and a storage app for any file type transfer would be the perfect tablet, which may be the situation in a year

We ll know that Apple already has the mini with retina in the works, and they simply chose to release it without retina so that many will upgrade next year. It sucks.....but that's the way business is done by all.

You don't think it might have to do with the cost of a retina screen that size, or the affect on battery life, or the production yields of such screens, or the design compromises that might have had to have been made? You think they just chose not to put it in there to screw you?

This guy gets it. I have claimed for some time that my 11" MacBook Air has made my ipad irrelevant. Most of the time I used my ipad just because I felt obligated since I spent much on it.

Different here... I have both but use them for different apps, different purposes and in different settings. I find them complimentary to each other, not competing. I have both forks and spoons but one does not replace the other - I'm a mess eating soup with my fork! ;)

I have a spork :D

Back to the thread, I only use my iPad 3 for reading magazines, my 11" Air for almost everything else, and my iPhone on the go. Once the mini goes Retina, I'll buy one and give the big one away.

Me exactly.

It's all about price when it comes to volume - THE OP ASKED WHAT WOULD SELL MORE - not what was better for you or me....that follows for every product line made that I can think of. BMW sells many more 3 series than 7 series, same for Benz, dell and all other products. Price drives volume.

7s will. Not just iPads either. The 9.7 iPad, the Nexus 10, the Kindle Fire HD 9 inch simply aren't good mobile devices.

Yup. The 3 series BMWs and C class Benz are their best selling models but that doesn't mean, it's better than the 5 series and E class. Good point.

Neither.

8.9" is the perfect size.

8.9" is highly portable and an acceptable compromise for those who prefer 9.7".

8.9 should become the standard.

I voted for the 7 but in the long run it may depend on how Apple positions the 7 against the 10.If they reach feature parity in the next gen or two I think the 7 will take the lead. If Apple holds the 7 back in favor of the 10 then its a tougher call.

Surfing on a PC seems very limiting now. I wonder if they'll ever create Mac apps that are as functional as the many weather, finance, etc. apps. Seems that they just point to a website and give up.

Exactly. I'd be sitting at my desktop or laptop, looking for something to read, and I keep on wishing they'd make Zite or Flipboard for desktop. Much better at news discovery than any news website.

If apple can make their Ipad slimmer and lighter with starting price around 399 then it would fly off the shelf like crazy. I dont care about 7", its rubbish. No matter how clear the screen, its just too small.
