Ivy bridge....retina....redesign (or at least thinner) and I'm all set.
Ps thanks for making this thread, it's very interesting to see these statistics!:D

I'm really curious to see how light the weight will be brought down by the redesign.

Also, longer battery life is probably my most desired feature. If Apple can bring the MBP to anywhere near the iPad battery (10 hours), that'd be phenomenal.

If they do add retina display, I predict the batt life will remain more or less the same: 7 hours.

Almost 100 votes so far! And it puzzles me that people prefer Blu-ray support to a merge between the MBA and the MBP...

Other oems have started to add IPS displays. I'd like to see Apple make it an option even if HP has always made better displays at the top end :p (yes Dreamcolors are better than the thunderbolt display, but they also cost twice as much).

I hope Apple brings IPS displays at this time. The Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A will ship with a 1920x1080 IPS display for US$ 1,099. The 13" MBP starts at US$ 1,199 and the 13" MBA starts at US$ 1,299. Apple should be able to put an IPS Retina Display on both of these models.

The panels have come down in cost a lot in the past couple years, so it's probably possible that we'll see IPS. I don't personally buy into the retina hype. They'd have to go the double or nothing high dpi route. I've kind of wondered if Apple hasn't upped the resolution further at this point due to the way things are scaled in OSX (not that I blame them). IPS would make me want one regardless of resolution if it's implemented well. HP had their dreamcolor upgrade on some of their top laptops. If Apple does something even half as good as that, I will want one. I just want something closer to the quality of a nice desktop display. I think it's somewhat more likely to see something like that in a macbook air assuming the display density isn't a limiting factor, because they wouldn't have to go over 13".

I hope we see IPS displays in the new MacBooks. I want a Retina Display because it will dramatically increase the resolution. I have a MacBook with a 1280x800 screen and I am seriously dissatisfied with the blurry text. I would also like a larger work area (1280x800 is so cramped!), but sharper fonts are a must for me at this point. If Apple lets me keep a Retina Display without the HiDPI mode, I would prefer.

As for IPS, I would love to see those in a MacBook Pro. I must say that I'm not used to IPS screens. I live in Brazil and nearly all screens that are sold here are cheap TN screens. TV sets are IPS, of course, but I won't use a 1366x768 32" or a 1920x1080 46" as an external monitor. Apart from that, I can only find IPS on the iMacs and the Apple Cinema/Thunderbolt Display (which costs US$ 2,000 here). And, of course, on the iPhone and the iPad - both of which are great. Dell sells its 27" monitor here in Brazil (also for US$ 2,000), but only through their website, and I've never seen one of those.

I've never seen an IPS screen on a laptop before. There are no IPS laptops sold in Brazil (all HP laptops sold around here are cheap and low-end), and I've never seen one of those in my trips to the U.S. They must be great.

Well it puzzles me that more people want Blu-ray support than want to keep an optical drive. I'd like to see Blu-ray without an optical drive! (Actually I wouldn't -- I voted "no" on Blu-ray).

Also, as far as IPS displays are concerned, these new cheap panels are e-IPS ("E" for economy?) and tend to be 6 bit. Remember the flack over "millions of colors" a few years ago when Apple was putting cheap panels on some models? A 6 bit panel doesn't produce millions of colors and e-IPS doesn't do as well when viewed at an angle as a good IPS display.

That for sure!

Yes, I thought they would be e-IPS. That's probably the reason why the (e-)IPS iPad sells for US$ 499 and the (H-)IPS Thunderbolt Display sells for US$ 999. But are the IPS screens on the iPhone and the iPad 6 bit?

A 512 GB SSD is unfeasible. Too expensive!

Personally I'm happy with a 256GB SSD, but for those used to large capacities I think a 512GB SSD is feasible especially for those willing to pay more and as somebody else said, Apple own a memory company so it'll be a lot cheaper for them to offer SSD's as standard!

Apple currently sells the 512 GB SSD as an option to the MacBook Pros for an additional US$ 1,100.00. Even if Apple manages to keep costs low, I don't think it will be able to offer the 512 GB SSD as standard. Perhaps it makes more sense to offer the 256 GB SSD (which currently costs an additional US$ 500 at the Apple Store) as standard and the 512 GB SSD as an option.

It is today. As long as the new MacBook Pro is upgradable, we can start off with a 512 GB HD or hybrid with a 20 GB SSD, and then upgrade to a full 512 GB or larger SSD when the price comes down. That's what I'll do with my MBP when larger SSDs are more affordable.

A larger battery life seems to be a very desired feature in new computers, even more than a Retina Display.

Perhaps these people wanting a larger battery should wait for the release of Haswell. Intel promised that Haswell would allow 24-hour usage and 10-day stand-by.

the macbook air has 30 days of standby (according to apple, anyway.)

either way, i would like to see a drop in price or at least put more quality into their models, like anti-glare options and quad-core with at least a dedicated AMD GPU into the 13" macbook pro, for example

but i would add the option of " keep the 17" model. ", as this seems to be one of the popularly discussed topics on macbook pros here.

I initially did not include this option because it is one of the models and not a feature of the MacBook Pro. Later, when I changed my mind, the poll was already created and I couldn't change it...

Are you interested in the 17-inch model?

No, but I was just thinking about those who intend on buying that specific model, for various reasons, like for the hardcore software that these level of consumers run on their MBPS nowadays and need that power for it.

And yes, you are right, if it is only just features then there is a reason to not include the 17"MacBook pro as an option. My apologies.

Longer Battery Life (7-8 Realistic instead of 6-7 Realistic), better GPU Performance, and 1080p antiglare screen on the 15" are the one things I want.

Don't you prefer a resolution higher than 1080p?

This is a cool poll, but can you limit choices? It would have been better if you limited to maybe 3 or 4 features. To prevent people from just clicking all. Right now the results are a little unimpressive because of this very thing, everything has been voted a lot of time.

Don't mean to be picky, just saying haha. But great choices for the poll, I am PRAYING for a smaller bezel, because, even if there is a redesign its going to be pretty minor, and i hope that one of this minor adjustments is a thinner bezel.

Also HD cam, higher resolutions, don't care if retina or whatever. USB, FW and TB. And please don't merge lines or make the mbp thinner, just for the sake of it being thinner.
