I’ve seen the “which screen protector are you getting” threads, but this one is different.

First - it’s a POLL!

Second - I primarily want to know, for those that will be using “glass screen protectors” for their iPhone X - which do you prefer and WHY?

One type goes edge-to-edge (pic 1 below)
The other type is just on the flat part, with a gap between the edge of the protector and the edge of the phone.

Please VOTE and then let us know WHY in a post below.

Edge to Edge type:

NON Edge to Edge (not sure what to call this):

I was wondering the same thing. I ordered a Spigen, but was thinking about a Tozo that covered the entire screen.

I went with the Spigen non-edge to edge. Reason being simple. Case. I worry the edge to edge will have issues with a case.

A few issues I have with the 3d screen protectors,
Some only use adhesive around the edges so there is a gap above the display that causes sensitivity issues and doesn't look right.
Another issue is a lot of cases won't work with them they cause lifting around the edges.

But my main concern for the X is the interference with Face id.

The 2.5d ones are uglier and yes they don't cover all the glass but Ive had a better experience with them not interfering with some aspect of the phone

Bovon makes an edge to edge that has the Face ID section cut out as well. So it’s a combination of typical 2.5D design and 3D edge to edge.
[doublepost=1509480309][/doublepost]I’ve always used regular film screen protectors. Very thin and barely tell they’re on. Tempered protectors and especially edge to edge has me intrigued. I originally ordered a Tozo edge to edge that has a soft PET edge....but after looking into it...have found out that dust can collect under the black edges....since they do not adhere to the screen like the clear glass section. Now I’m on a quest for a fully glass edge to edge protector with 100% surface adhesion and have ordered the sparin and G-color protectors to check out. I get those on thursday to add to my collection of regular film and 2D tempered glass protectors will see what I end up using on friday.

Another thing I noticed was that the film screen protectors I got from amFilm cover a bigger area than the clear glass section of the TOZO...and slightly bigger area than the Spigen 2D tempered glass.

Thanks for your replies so far guys.

Helpful to know your experiences. I have been using a glass protector on my 7 and it’s been fine, although I wish it were closer to the edge. With the iPhone X, and needing to swipe from the bottom edge, I’m wondering if the edge of the glass is going to bother me.

I went ahead and ordered one of each kind to try out and see what I like best. But I’d like to start with the one I’m likely to keep on there if possible.

Depending on the way it's packaged you may be able to place it on the phone and test without actually peeling off the cover to reveal the adhesive.

Well I just received the G-Color and Sparin 3D edge to edge protectors to compare with the Tozo. Some Quick observations and comparisons

TOZO: soft PET edges...edges do not adhere...which could potentially cause dust to collect under the black edges. Complete cut out for speaker and other Face ID sensors. Clear Screen area seems to be the narrowest of the three by a fraction...and potentially blocking some of the display?

Sparin: 100% glass...edges appear to have adhesive as well and should adhere along the edges as well. Cutouts for sensors are about the same size as the Tozo. HOWEVER...Cutouts for sensors in the notch area other than the speaker are not completely open...there is still glass there...and could potentially effect Face ID?

G-Color: 100% glass....edges appear to have adhesive as well. Cut outs for sensors are the biggest of the three and should theoretically minimize any chance of the sensors from being blocked. The cutouts are also like the Sparin, in that they are still covered with glass other than the speaker....which again could effect Face ID?

Summary: none are 100% what I’m looking for...would love to find something that is a combination of the G-color and Tozo. I may try the G-color first. If I have issues with Face ID I may try the Tozo and or just go to the regular 2D tempered or film protectors I got...that leave the notch area completely open.

good points. I didn't realize the sensors were not cut out on most of them. I have one I got free and only the earpiece is cut out. Never realized it before, but honestly we have no clue whether glass will affect true depth. I say no. If it does, all these screen protectors will be garbage.

This is the only alternative. I think its all glass but I don't know

The Sparin I received actually had an iPhone 8 sticker on it....back it went.

So you’re saying the G-Color doesn’t have hole cut outs for the front camera (and sensors)? In the product picture it says it does.

There are holes in the black part just as the pic shows...BUT what you can’t see in the pic is that the glass in those areas are NOT cut out. Of all the openings you can see...the ONLY spot the glass is actually cut out as well, is the speaker slot (the bottom horizontal slot). Essentially you still have the protection of the glass in those areas....but the question is whether the glass will impact how well the Face ID works...as there is now another layer of glass they need to go through.

I personally don’t think it will...but I could be wrong. I actually prefer that because all those holes are going to be dust collecting areas.

So even the black bezels is glass? And it curves on the edges?

Last question - is there “laminate” on the edges? I’d like for it to “stick” as close to the edges.

Yes it’s 100% glass...so the black bezels are glass as well. It does curve on the edges like the other protectors. I didn’t pull off the backing as I didn’t want to introduce any dust. The backing does cover everything all the way to the edges...so I’m assuming the edges should have “laminate” and should stick. Will find out tomorrow.

Can you let me know if it works with Face ID after you get your phone tomorrow?

That looks like the best option (assuming Face ID works).

TOZO full screen protector is off my list. Not sure if it's just mine...but the black boarders aren't perfectly sized. It cuts into several areas of the display...mostly sides and notch area. Once my phone is done backing up....I'll probably throw on the G-Color. Even with the plastic that came on the phone, face ID seems to be working okay...so the glass should not be an issue.

Yep, a Karapax twin pack with template to 'help' put on. (From Amazon, £5.99)

Put mine on and even using the template I got it very slightly misaligned.
Was soooo tempted to pull it off and try again with the other but apart from the slight misalign and one tiniest bit of lint it is perfect.
You can guarantee the next one would get tons of dust or lint under it and still not guaranteed to get it perfectly straight.

I'll probs get the Belkin one installed by my local iStore one day if they get the kit in, they did with previous phones.

How is the G-Color?

1) Does Face ID work properly?
2) Is there any rainbow effect on screen (or edges)?
3) Are the black boarders perfectly sized?

so got phone. I installed one of the full screen protectors and the bubbles would just not come out. i resorted to the regular one
