Ok, I primarily use my 3.06 12 core MacPro for Lightwave 3D. I also like playing games. I currently have an ATI 5870 in my machine. Which Mac Edition card would be best for me the GTX 680, or Saphire 7950? I also want a simple drop in no muss or fuss solution. Being able to view DVDs would be nice as well. I also just purchased Apple Care as my machine was nearing 1 year old. How does installing a new card effect all that?

The GTX 680 is by far the faster card. AMD has faster OpenGL implementation across the board tic for tac. Lightwave doesn't really use all that much GPU power. The consensus seems that Nvidia is more stable in Lightroom than AMD. The 680 will be better at games obviously but then it is down to money. 1 might not be better than the other in Lightwave while the clear winner in games goes to GTX 680. You also get all the other Nvidia goodies like Physx and CUDA. Search your soul.

Isn't Physx only available on the Windows side of things?

The API exists and support is stated for all OS's but HW acceleration support is not:confused:
So yes and no?
In the classic GPU sense you are correct. Only in Windows. Probably only because of laziness and lack of demand.
