My issue with 1 and 2 here is they will accumulate fine scratches. I’ve had 4 years worth of Space Black SS and despite giving them a beating they both look like brand new.

I went to order a 6 and am very disappointed that my color is now only offered in Hermès. I just won’t replace it.

I see why Apple migrated the space black to the Hermes line. They needed to expand the casing option, mainly because they only really offered the 316l stainless, and by offering more casing options for the most expensive watch, just creates a broader range for sales. And of course, if you want the space black, now you’re forced to the Hermes, which very few people will spend that on a smart watch that depreciates. But the trade-off, the graphite is equally just as nice, but obviously a lighter shade that will transition depending on the lighting.

Last year was the first year for black Hermès watches, right? I have a feeling they probably just had too many left over Hermès straps with black end links, so they kept black going another year 🤣

Or you are stubborn like me and will just not upgrade until their watch dies because they essentially eliminated their color of choice.

No biggie it still works.

In my mind the Apple Watch is different than a Rolex. I have my dad's Rolex and I appreciate its scars because he's gone and when I see them I remember that he wore this watch when he worked on his boats/cars (the things he enjoyed) and thus the blemishes.

I realize that this is a zombie post, but this really struck a chord for me and I wanted to respond. I have several Rolex and Omega watches in stainless steel cases. Two of them, a GMT Master II and a Speedmaster Pro, are very dinged up. More dings than scratches, so a little different than the Daytona above. Every time I send one of them out for cleaning and lubrication I put notes all over asking them *not* to polish the case. I think the watchmakers think that polishing up the case is a sign of their care and craftsmanship. To me, though, I know that every single ding, dent and scratch on these watches happened while I was wearing and enjoying them. 60+ years has put some dings, dents and scratches on me, why should my watches be different? It's the story of our time together. :)
