Do you want a larger screen or a more compact device? How important is having a somewhat faster device to you? Or better speakers? Or access to the pencil or iPad keyboard? How important is price?

I chose the ipad mini 4 and would choose it again, because for me having a compact device was more important than the other issues. But that doesn't mean it's the right choice for you.

At this point, I would wait to see what Apple come out with this year. Aside from that, how do you expect anybody to help you with a question like that? They are basically actually quite different devices with almost entirely different user bases.

An iPad mini would be absolutely ideal if you want a smaller screen device and won't be doing anything resource heavy on it - if you're just browsing the web, watching Netflix and taking notes.

An iPad Pro is aimed at a 'Pro' market (although Pro on iOS is still a question these days) aimed at heavy duty tasks such as content creation and heavy gaming.

Your answer lies in exactly what you need the iPad. Nobody can help you unless you give us that information.

I personally own an iPad mini 4 because, in my opinion, it's the best tablet size. I use it with a Logitech wireless keyboard to take notes using Microsoft OneNote at university. It works perfectly and I've had it since launch, can't see myself upgrading it any time soon. But that's just my use case, I'm sure yours is different.

Ok, I am the OP
I really liked the 9.7 Ipad Pro,however, I dont have much money to buy it . I dont want to buy the 2017 ,because it doesnt have anti reflective coating, and its heavy too. So, the cheapest ipad for me is the ipad mini 4 which features anti reflective coating ,thinner too.I need to buy an ipad and I dont have much money right now .. I am used to the 9.7 inch ipad .Also, I own an Iphone 6S Plus.

You might consider buying a used or refurbished Air 2. That's the same size as the 2017, has a laminated screen with antireflective coating, and is around the same price range as the mini 4.

I agree with the previous poster. Anyone who is looking for great value should look at the refurbished store. I have purchased three refurbished items, ipod touch five now almost six years old, apple tv, and ipad mini 2. All have been at a significant savings over "new".

I really like the size of the ipad mini, so I would say ipad mini4. If you must have the larger one, the air 2 is a fine machine.

Then I would certainly not suggest the iPad Pro 9.7 inch, which retails for approximately $600 for affordability reasons. If you like the size of the iPad mini 4, it's still very functional currently. Otherwise, I would have to agree with others reference the iPad Air 2, which is easily still a top choice even if it's not manufactured anymore.

I will problably buy the mini 4 ...

Air 2 and mini 4 use the same CPU (A8) so they're a little bit older in terms of tech. From day to day usage, you wont see much difference but support is somewhat limited, especially with the Air 2.
The mini form factor is a lot nicer than the 2017 iPad and is built better, but then the iPad Pro 9.7 is quite good also, though you're approaching MacBook price territory with the Pro.
Same 'retina' resolution for all devices mentioned, so you're not sacrificing content - it just looks smaller on the mini.

FYI I use a mini 2, having come from an iPad 3. Prefer the size of the mini 2, but I just bought the 2017 iPad because it's hard to read sheet music and magazines on the mini.
