I've been reselling phones for years and white iPhones historically have always had higher resale value than the black ones for some reason. Not exactly sure why.

For what it's worth, when I was trying to buy a second hand 4S about a year ago, I tried for a month and couldn't get a white one in my area.
 
White iPhones are more in demand because they can double as fashion accessories. The black ones......not so much.
 
Seems like its mostly everyone's opinion that white is the winner, some reasons are stupid (gender) but others Are not (reselling experience).

If you're really interested, it would be pretty easy to figure out the answer to this question. Just go to eBay and check the prices of the last 50 black iPhones that were sold, and compare that list to the prices of the last 50 white iPhones that were sold.

However, as others have pointed out, you probably want to keep the original color otherwise your phone's headphone jack and dock would look out of sync.
