Out of the 3 models that I have had here’s how I would rank them from.

5s (my first iPhone which was my favorite because it was refreshing to use after being with android for 5 years prior. Also was the phone I used when me and my wife first started dating so it took majority of the photos I have on my camera roll. Just a great phone overall that has aged wounderfully).

10s (iOS 12 is flawless and loving everything about the phone (except For the msrp price tag).

6s (felt like I could have used the 5s for one more year, but it had blue tooth and battery issues. Had the battery replaced for free because it kept switching off after dropping down to 20% battery life).

Every iPhone has given me the best experience, simply because of iOS. But in terms of if I had to choose between the physical hardware, that would be the XS Max, because of the way it feels in the hand with the glass and curvature.

iPhone 3GS because it was the first smartphone after my Motorola Razr.
The iPhone 4 because it looked so incredibly good and simply excellently built.
And my current iPhone X because it feels so much like the future and the big OLED display looks fantastic.

    My favourite iPhones are:

The 5S, beautiful device, loved it, it had a nice big screen (at the time) coming from an i4.

Next is the iPhone 7, I have only just let it go after 2 years of stellar service, it had plenty life left, loved it.

And now my favourite of them all, the iPhone XS, it’s simply beautiful.

I also owned the i4 (my first iPhone, that too was gorgeous), the 4s, The i5, the i6, and 6s, all superb devices but I prefer the 3 above.

Each iPhone is better than the one that ca before it. So for me it would be

    Xs Max
    X
    7 plus
    6S plus
    6 plus
    5S
    4
    3G.

My personal all time favourite is the 4 though.

The iPhone 6s. No screen issues, headphone jack, solid build quality...

X - new this year for me as the Maxes didn’t work
6S Plus - still a great working phone
    4
    3GS - my first iPhone
    6 Plus
XS Max - worst for me as I had 2 - both with super poor connectivity

1st gen - “is that an iPhone? How do ya like it?” There was nothing close in bb or android space. Especially jail broken

3GS - leap in performance after 3g just slapped a 3g radio in there with same SoC as first gen

4 - unparalleled elegance and build for 2010. Introduction of Retina display

5- just a great modernized 4. Slate and lighter. Suspiciously light like are there internals in here?

6s+ - felt like a plus phone with juice finally. 6+ felt like a repackaged 5s to me and 5s felt like a repackaged 5 bc a6 was good enough and I knew Touch ID would come to me soon

7+ - dual cam p3 color gamut and matte black

X - 10th anniversary stainless steel they just went all out for it sorta imo but commanded a crazy new price tier

Honorary mention to Xr for battery and not making me go into $1000+ pricing territory and SOME color finally as we’ll as using an lcd to conform to their curved display look with tap to wake too

3g and 6+ served their purposes but didn’t have a mesmerizing experience with either. Skipped 5s and 8plus.. 4s was a dog on battery too

The 7+ was my very first iPhone and I loved that rose gold color. It was a great phone! Moving up to the Max though I absolutely love it! Face ID, edge to edge screen, super quick!

iPhone 4S was the best experience with a phone I've had to date.

Every phone has given me a great experience. For me ranking them isn't possible as each iteration builds on the last.
I still marvel at the 5SE; love the form fit and function.

I’ve only had 4, 6, max (and only for 13 days) and xr. Obviously didn’t like max enough to keep so that’s at the bottom. Xr I’ve only had 5 days; it’s unranked.

So that takes me to 4 > 6. The 4/s generation I think is a classic of modern industrial design. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it in a museum in a decade or two.

    Hands-down, the iPhoneSE.

I bought the original iPhone for my wife when it was first announced all those years ago. It was nice, but the iPhone4 was nicer. So, when the 4 came out, we both got 4's. When we decided our son needed an emergency phone, we gave him one of the 4s, and traded the other for an iPhone5. As Apps became more demanding, we offloaded the iPhone5 to our son and sold his 4 on eBay, replacing the 5 with an SE. Then I replaced my 5 with an SE after laundering (yes, washer and dryer) the 5. From then on, the SE met every requirement we had in a smart phone. The size was perfect for a purse or pocket, it didn't bend, it was fast enough, and worked well enough as a phone. I just recently went to an iPhone7 due to a battery replacement gone bad in my SE. TouchID/Home Button cable separation. A very sad day. As nice as the iPhone7 is, it feels clunky, almost too big to use as a regular phone, and you can't pick it up without getting fingerprints all over it. The design of the iPhoneSE needs to be revisited, perhaps with an iPhoneSE2. Some people prefer a phone to be a phone that just pairs well with other devices, has good signal reception, good battery life, with a bend-proof, scratch-proof, water-resistant enclosure. If we need to see something faster, bigger or more clearly, we have iPads or Macs for that. Just sayin'.

The X was the first iPhone since the 3GS to give me the "Wow" feeling. The others were, to me, just incremental updates (as is the XS Max) but the X felt new and fresh.
