Curious to know how many people got the first gen iPhone compared to other generations.

I got the original iPhone shortly after it came out.

What about you?

owned an iPhone since the original. Dont think Ill ever switch to another phone. I mean why not when you can sell the current one for more than it costs to get a new 2yr contract on the new model. It helps make the money back from buying the original at $600

3GS for me, waited over 4 years to get an iPhone and finally got a 3GS a year ago (although no contract/plan).

Very interesting results. Almost surprised, but I suppose it makes sense that by the iPhone 4, most everyone would have been indoctrinated into the family.

Am wondering why those who came from Verizon aren't marking iPhone 4, though.

3G. And bought every one since then. I should have never sold either 3's, instead I should have just kept them...

Interesting poll! Everyone is pretty split between all the models. I remember what a hassle it was to switch from Sprint to AT&T back in 07 to get the original phone. Had every one since :)

4GB Orignal iPhone on AT&T. I still remember jailbreaking it and using installer before cydia and the apple app store. It was so buggy

The 4S because I was smart enough to wait the 8 months after Verizon FINALLY got the iPhone.

On June 30 2007, I got the original. In fact, because I sold my iPhone 4, I'm currently using it. Amazingly, it still holds a good charge and works well. Unfortunately, it's only 2g. So, obviously, it's slow. Also, it's hard to go from the 4's retina display to the 2g's screen. Fri Oct 14th can't come soon enough!

3Gs, which I had for 4 months, before my boss offered to give me her new iPhone 4 if I gave her my 3Gs (I was happy to oblige). Had the 4 for a year+ now, and it will go to my wife and I'll be getting the 4s now.

First iPhone, Had verizon previously and when the 4 came out I already knew (macrumors :p) that the iPhone was past due for an update.

The 3G was my first. I didn't want to get the first gen iPhone because...

1. I was only 1 year into a 2 year Verizon contract with my Palm Treo 700p.

2. The original iPhone was too expensive.

3. The original iPhone didn't have 3G.

So I decided to wait after my Verizon contract was up and ended up getting the iPhone 3G in August 2008 as I recall. I like it so much I got the 3GS the following year (and paid out the butt for it since I was only a year into my contract with AT&T). I then got the iPhone 4 the following year when it came out. I will now get the 4S this November 16th when I am eligible to upgrade.

The retina display is beautiful, isn't it? I had an iPhone 4 but sold it back in August in preparation for the next generation iPhone. Bought a used 3GS while waiting and the display is so much less awesome. It's still a great phone but it's sooooo slow compared to my iPhone 4.

This will be my first iPhone. I had horrible experiences with my Droid 1 from Motorola that it made my view on android completely sour.

Not to mention it will be nice dealing with Apple instead of Verizon if I have any problems. Apple seems like they are always more than willing to help you, verizon on the other hand doesn't seem to care.
