Apple has no plans to refresh the iPhone SE

If this is true, then what iPhone will replace the entry-level iPhone SE when it gets discontinued? And when will this likely happen?

I think the possible options that will replace the iPhone SE is the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus that will be slightly more expensive and will be available along with the iPhone 6S at a lower price or the iPhone 7 that will be available in 32GB around the iPhone SE price point.

Or would Apple make a new iPhone that has a 4.7 inch display with specs that the iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 has but at the same price point that the iPhone SE currently has?

I think it could happen when the iPhone 7S/ 7S Plus/ iPhone Edition gets release or it will happen in March when the iPhone SE was released. (I think it will happen in March)

That's not exactly true. But perhaps Apple likely has no plans to refresh the iPhone SE this year. But I do see the iPhone SE being reintroduced in 2018 with upgraded internals and hardware. The iPhone SE was not an iPhone that was meant to be upgraded on an annual basis, it was a budget iPhone that was intended for a demographic that wanted the 4 inch form factor and India's commerce.

This rumor is completely bogus. Updating The iPhone SE with the iPhone 7 internals With in weeks before the September KeyNote? Perhaps....but likely Not going to happen. Spring. 2018

I'm due an upgrade imminently and puzzling over the SE or the 7. Previously I had a 6S but got rid of it due to the battery issues, and have been using an old 5S for the past several months.

Since I've realised I quite like the 5S form factor (just not its speed or low storage) I was pretty much decided on getting an SE, and saving quite a bit on the price of a 7. But I'm now worrying that if (as some rumours I've seen suggest) Apple won't be refreshing the SE in its current form and are giving up again on smaller screen phones, the SE will just be left behind and neglected in terms of iOS updates and app development going forward.

I kind of wish Apple would drop all the smoke and mirrors sometimes and just give us a clear idea of where they're headed with these products..

I just can not see it. Getting the 7 tech into the smaller SE would take some major redesigning and not so sure Apple sells enough to make it's money back. But if they did, it would be one powerful phone.

Agree with you. I too think this rumors is more likely False given at this Time of the year. We are So close to the September launch [only 7 weeks to Go]

But it's just rumors and Speculations and who exactly know except Apple what they have Planned :)

No more redesigning than it took to squeeze the 6S in there and create the current SE. For me the question mark would be the screen - can they really produce another new phone with the exact same screen from the 5S, or would they feel compelled to now upgrade it to something higher res/gamut etc to keep up with later phones, and would that then in turn make the smaller phone less viable when it would be so much easier to just switch to re-using the 6S display for example..

I just do not think Apple will do it but then we all might be surprised.

All depends on if Apple can make money. That is the bottom line and I can not blame them for it.

There are rumours that Apple will release 3 bezelless OLED iPhones in 2018.

The smallest one with a 5.28” screen. Perhaps a tad bigger body wise than today’s SE.

The SE should stay relevant for years to come, so I think it’s a safe buy. I’m running the iOS 11 Beta, and it’s managing it perfectly.

I don’t think they’ll update it with new internals though. At that price point they aren’t going to feel motivated todo that-especially if bezel-less designs can put a large screen on a small device. Personally, I couldn’t go back to a phablet phone. The SE is indeed awesome, but I think it’s a one and done thing that we should be thankful for. I’m going to run mine til it croaks
