iOS Which is advanced: split vs tabbars

I just know there is a split view controller for iPad.

I tried to use tabbars to make my app for stock manager, now I am in chaos, I am not sure if using split is better, do you have any suggestion?

I have little experience with iPad UI, but generally the split view for it is used for master/detail layouts. More info here:
