Which is better 4.2 or iTether?

I jailbroke my iPad for one reason. So that I can run iTether and get an internet connection from my iPhone. It's an excellent thing!

But now, I am conflicted. I have to make a choice...

...Upgrade now to 4.2 with all the sexiness - and lose my beloved tethering?
Or wait until the evil jail-breaking code monkeys break the back of 4.2?

    I am so conflicted!

BTW. Does anyone know why Apple elected to not support the Bluetooth PAN on the iPad? They do on all their Macs.

Why wouldn't you just create a wifi hot spot with something like MyWi on a jailbroken iPhone instead? Never even considered running the tether in reverse.

I used to do that. Although now my phone is not jailbroken and running 4.1.

Can it even be jailbroken yet?

Of the two solutions iTether seems to be the better one. MyWi seems a bit more unreliable. It eats battery, and I am not convinced it shuts down properly.

You're out of luck then. The good news is that the Shatter jailbreak will be out soon and both the iPad and iPhone will be permanently jailbroken until the hardware is updated (i.e. next generation of each).

FWIW, I've found MyWI 4.0 to eat a whole lot less battery and run quite well with my iPad.

If I can get my hands on a dev account to add my UDID to, I'll gladly test out the 4.2 beta and return down to 3.2.1 which I CAN re-jailbreak. I'd just like to test out the AirPlay and AirPrint features and get a better understanding of how they work. Then again, if I like 4.2 I might just stick with it for a bit :) But damn, I still need that UDID fix!
