Which is better? manual code or Photoshop code

Does it make a difference if you create the code yourself or use photoshop to generate the code when doing things such as creating roll over graphics or creating a photo gallery, or anything else of the same nature?



also, do you think using slices is a good practice?

in my opinion it's best to code by hand. that way you have the ability to make things the way you want, with optimized code that will display properly in most if not all browsers, ability to make it easy to understand for other designers that might work with the code later, and you can also tweak the code for seo. building websites out of image slices is just bad design - hardly if any seo ability, can take a long time to load, and once the client finds out what you did, chances are you won't be getting much work from them in the future.
