Zen got himself banned, but this is the kind of thread that we need zen to weigh in on..

well technically a Mac Mini is a PowerMac G4 before the intel ones :) and what does TOS mean?

"isn't that statement irrelevant to the topic at hand and against forum rules?"

The rules are what?

It really boils down to what the op hopes to achieve or do with a G4. If the op plans to do some light video work or audio, a dual powermac G4 should be able to handle it. I would look for the dual 1.42 MDD, beefed up G4 Sawtooth that has been expanded to take advantage of dual processor upgrades ad Zen has done. The final powermac series G5 dual cores can do better performance wise.

If the op, however just wants to browse the internet, the PowerBook G4 1.67 dual layer is a really nice machine.

Yeah I know what the OP means about wanting old machines; I *was* going to buy a G4 Cube (not in the best of condition) and an iMac G4 (a bit expensive). A shame really. :p

What do you mean by better? :p

I don't want it because it's old, because I can actually put it to use.

By better, I mean by how well iMovie or whatnot would run on it.

I'm going to go ahead and tell you that if you buy the PowerMac, bring a car.

It weighs well over 40 pounds and it was NOT fun hauling it a half mile to the bus stop, onto the bus, and off the bus to my apartment! :)

That's okay. Despite my young age, I can drive as long as I have someone with me. And I'm aware the PowerMac is 40 Pounds, I saw it on the Internet. But isn't the eMac 50 pounds or something?

I loved the eMac G4 1.42 Ghz model. To answer your question, the Powerbook went to 1.67 Ghz, the PM went to what, 1.2?-1.4? So, Powerbook.

Yes the powermac went to 1.42GHz, but the final iteration was a dual processor which eventually be more powerful than the 1.67 powerbook.

You guys are awesome, thanks for your help.

Anyways, another ad has popped up of one of those 'Generic' regular white MacBooks. It's also $50 but it apparently does not turn on. It's newer than the PowerBook G4 of course, so I'll be going for that and I'll try to fix it. By doing what has to be done, of course!

So you can consider this thread almost dead.
