Which is more desirable iPad Pro: 11 1TB (2018) or 12.9 128GB (2020)? Assuming price was the same.

Assuming you didn't have to pay - or that the price was the same for both - I'm interested to know what people think is more desirable - what would you choose?

Love the screen real estate of the 12.9, BUT 1TB vs 128GB is a no-brainer. That kind of internal carry-with-you-anywhere-you-go type of storage is eons more valuable for those who live in an area with spotty service (hence negating iCloud storage reliability) or those who aren't a fan of the cloud storage service. I identify with the latter. 1TB for the win, although i do love the 12.9 screen size, 11 inch will suffice.

You can add external storage. You can’t add screen real estate.

The 2020 12.9 is the clear winner with a bevy of storage options available. IMO.

Depends on the use case. For my needs the 11” is a better fit. For someone using it as a laptop replacement the 12.9” would make more sense.

12.9" is excellent. At the same price it seems like a no-brainer unless the difference in portability matters that much to you. I find the gain in screen and overall function to be worth what I see to be little losses in portability.

If you need the 12.9 ok, but I can't believe some people say the base 12.9 is a better value than the 1TB 11. Do you realize that the 1TB is $300 more and that the 2018 is virtually the same as the 2020, since it also has 6GB RAM?
As a owner of the the 2018 11in pro 1TB cellular I can say that having that much space is so liberating that it's going to be hard to go back to less (and yes, I have plenty of use cases for that space, especially over a 5+ years lifespan, but that could be a subject for another post, "what would you do with 1TB on your iPad?").

Ah, yet another discussion about personal preference fir the screen size. I prefer the larger one regardless of its additional cost.

yeah, same as if someone came and told me, what do you prefer between an iPhone 12 max and an iPhone 12 mini as your main phone if you didn't have to pay for it... I would pick the mini with no hesitation since I can't stand big phones.... so personal preferences, not that the mini is better in itself, technically it's worse and costs much less, but it's a matter of priorities...

Majority would go for the 11" 2018 iPP model... some value the portability aspect of it. Obviously, the bigger screen is an advantage... but it all depends on how well it gets utilized.

As far for me, I've never owned a 11" iPP... I've owned 12.9" model ever since its been introduced and I've grown accustomed to the size. But I don't own a laptop.. so the iPP helps to fill in that gap. I understand you looking for help deciding what to buy... however, choosing between the two is not so easy.

As I stated earlier, you might think the obvious choice is the larger screen of the 12.9" iPP... but later favor the portable size of the 11" iPP. And then, you have to decide what are your plans for either one.

guess all depends on your screen preference. 11 inch is ideal for alot of people due to how portable it is and guess depends how many have a laptop for the bigger screen

Definitely the 2020 12.9, but only if you are comfortable with the 12.9 size, for many like myself it is a little too cumbersome.

An M1 MacBook Air. Id have a superior device and $400 left in my pocket.

I suspect the OP made that assessment prior to posting and decided they needed this specific tool. But yes if your use case is a traditional laptop, get that.

Depends on what I already have and how it would fit into my setup. The 2018 11 1TB is something I can use as main iPad. Meanwhile, the 2020 12.9 128GB would be good as a dedicated device for PDF markup for work.

If they're freebies, then the 2020 12.9 128GB while I buy 1TB 11 and 12.9 for personal use.

External storage IS the issue as noted. iCloud is dependent on your connectivity. Some of us don’t want that kind of dependency and have gladly traded screen size for storage. 11 in is by no means tiny. Kapeesh!
