esaelias asks:
"whats the worst that can happen with a screen protector really?"

The thin, sprayed-on anti-glare coating on the surface of the display will start flaking off.
How's that?

Has there been any reports of this or is it just an assumption? I've opted for anti-glare screen protectors every time, left on for the entire use of the device, and only removed when I got rid of the device or upgraded. Never had an issue.

I will respectful disagree- I have had 2 staingate replacement screens on my late 2013 13" MacBook Pro Retina. Since I was at the end of the covered period with the 2nd one- this time, I elected to purchase a screen protector. Probably one of the best things I've done- I've always loved Moshi products (NFI) for my iPhone and MBP. They have a line of screen protectors called iVisor: https://www.moshi.com/en/product/ivisor-pro-13-for-macbook-pro-13/black-clear-matte

I got a better price on Amazon.

It not only reduces glare (seems practically invisible), but now, I have no worries of stains to the screen surface. I also use the white paper that ships between the closed screen and keyboard with a new MBP and a mousepad whenever I close the screen.

It's probably overkill, but no more marks on my screen, regardless.

May I know how is your MBP Retina now? Has it helped prevent the staingate issue? I have had 3 replacements for the last three years, and the third one was may last one. I am still thinking of whether I should or should not put on a screen protector as I have read different opinions about it. I'd really appreciate your reply. Thanks!

I use a Radtech microfibre set. It has a microfibre sleeve and a miscrofibre sheet that sits between the keyboard and screen when it’s closed. Can also be used to clean the screen and is machine washable.

Do you have any links for thse microfibre products? I'm on the look out for a good kit to clean my MBP 2017 and I know I only need a slightly moist microfibre to clean it but would love a sheet to sit between keyboard and screen. Cheers

My screen is still perfect. Best decision I made.

In fact, I just purchased a new 15" MBP and immediately placed the same Moshi iVisor screen protector on the new one.

I agree with you. With a keyboard cover being necessary a screen protector becomes necessary also. Still happy with your Moshi screen protector?

Aloha,

both my 2013 13" and 2017 15" Macbook Pro's screen (and keyboards) are doing just fine. Looks brand new- even better with the matte finish so that there is not a big reflection from any light source behind the screen.

Moshi iVisor is definitely easy to apply (and remove/reapply) without bubbles and I highly recommend the product.

Very much so.

Was that on the 2018 MacBook Pro? Just wonder how a screen protector is working on the tighter tolerances of these machines.

i have screen protector and a keyboard cover for my 2016 unit. it came with the protective case that i got off ebay for 20 bucks, it makes wiping the dust off the screen much easier since the protector doesn't smudge as easy with finger oil, and the rubber keyboard cover give the shallow butterfly keyboard a nice bounce to it, makes it feel like it has more travel distance.

It was on mid-2017 model. i believe that only external difference from 2018 is the 3rd generation butterfly keyboard.

Just back from Apple shop, with my unfixed mid 2014 suffering from peeling antireflex coating. They want CAD 900 to fix it and I said no thanks.

I had the screen swapped slightly less than 2 years ago, with same issue. "Luckily" it is so far mostly on the edges which look awful, will soon hit the real screen area too, again.

So, is there a way to fix this? Like having it completely removed when it gets too bad and attach some proper protector film to it?

I do not give anything for Apple's "fix", they just replace the screen with an equally flawed screen from the same factory.
This is so unacceptable.

Hi I just got my 2019 macbook pro 13" 2 weeks ago and I am noticing trackpad marks on the screen. I am using the Radtech keyboard cover and was trying to get Radtech cover that covers the trackpad too but i read that since the tolerances are so low the radtech cover can only cover the keyboard or else it will cause more pressure on the slim area between screen and trackpad.

Can anyone let me know how I can avoid trackpad marks on my screen? This happened on my Macbook 2015 and I can't get the trackpad outline off the screen.

The Moshi iVisor screen protector would take care of this problem.

I use a microfiber cloth designed to be kept inside the MacBook Pro when it is shut. I've been using them for years and it keeps stains and smudges off the screen and also keeps the keyboard from touching the screen.

Is your full size screen protector safe for 2019 Macbook Pro if this is the case? The Radtech is only covering the keyboard and not trackpad due to such tight tolerances. Can the screen protector actually damage laptop since the tolerances are so tight and any pressure on the laptop with screen protector from being inside a backpack might contribute to more damage than if there was no screen protector?

Also some amazon reviews state they cannot close recent macbook pros with the full size shgmx screen protector on. Is this why radtech only covers the keyboard?

The tolerances are getting really really tight, the most recent MacBook Air is the tightest we have tested.

I had to baby my previous MBP 2015 display. The keyboard marks was a nuisance, so I would put a silk cloth between before I closed it. No issues on my 2018 MBP.
