I owned a 5 with a badly cracked screen and stalled to replace it until the new models came out. I didn't want to spend the same amount to buy the exact same thing.

My intention was to buy the 6 series, but it didn't seem to offer enough differences and most importantly battery life didn't change. For this reason, I am more likely to upgrade with the 7 or 8 version and couldn't justify spending $430 for just 1 year. I really want a watch that will last for a weekend camping trip without a charger.

I ultimately chose the SE. It offered a new loopless band, latest build, and always on altimeter. I picked up the cellular version to give me emergency SOS for only $50 more. I don't miss the AOD, battery life is great, and I get to try something new.

For me the kicker is that you can’t get a sapphire screen on an SE. I’d much rather get a Series 5 or 4 with a sapphire screen and never have to worry about scratches.

Hi Perez,

Do you have a link confirming the differences of screens please?

It would be good for me to read it thoroughly and make a judgement call on which watch

Hi All,

I got the answer I think:

Only get sapphire crystal if you go for the mega expensive cases - SS etc.

Rest, incl Aluminium S6 - will be the Ion-X Glass.

NB:
Ok, not feeling so bad about thinking about going for the SE!

Be good to have a watch I just wear, and don’t worry about damaging it so much, because its so expensive.

Watches get knocked a lot more than phones and laptops etc. In our household!
