To put a Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD in my MBA 2012, I need an M2> 8X18 SATA adaptor....I've found two online that seem to meet the specs....it's just that they look a bit different in length. Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on which one of these might work best. Thanks

The latter is meant for SSD size 2280 only (22x80 mm) and it allows more room for double-sided SSDs. Since Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD is single-sided type 2280, either one will work.

The ssd when bolted on to the top one presents a slightly thicker profile. While Ive seen it fit in the youtube video,
I hope it won't rub up against the MBA case.

The second adaptor seems closer to the SSD's original thickness since it does not have the additional backing plate.

For some reason the bottom one appeals more....plus it comes with screwdrivers to do the job.

Thanks for confirming it will work.

What's the part number of the second adapter? I will be using a $229 1TB Crucial MX500 SATA M.2 SSD with it

Since you've posted this back more than 7 months ago I hope you were successful with your install
