i was thinking about getting a mac book pro 13" inch but ive read that it might not be enough to work with the keyframing in final cut express which is something id like to use, will macbook pro 13" work or should i get something else (keep in mind im not looking to spend a ton of money)

That depends on what you want to actually keyframe.

The 13" MB and MBP might do quite well, as I could do keyframes with an iBook and Avid Xpress DV.

Then any current Mac should suffice, as FCE does not really take advantage of the GPU yet, thus you are dependent on the CPU and can even use the Mac mini or any other Mac with a shared GPU.
