Hi Folks,
With the release of the Ultra Wide option for viewing my Mac in the Vision Pro, It has absolutely transformed my use of the Vision Pro from a device that I used once in a while to one that I use every time I need to do proper work. I was thinking of purchasing an M4 or M4 Pro Mac mini to use on my desktop with the Vision Pro instead of my 16" M3 MacBook Pro.

Most of the work is not heavy usage from a processing standpoint. Does anyone know if the base model of the M4 Mac mini would power this properly via the Vision Pro or would it need more ram, or the M4 Pro.

I know there are limitations of what amount of monitors the Mac mini can power, so I was wondering if this would affect the equivalent multi screen, large screen in the Vision Pro ?

Many thanks in advance
J

Either would be absolutely fine. Choose the model based on the work you’ll actually be doing on it. I’ve been testing the ultra wide virtual screen on my base M2 MacBook Air and performance is great.

Thank you for the reply. Should I take from this that the Mac mini ability to power the displays on the Vision Pro is not part of the equation then ?

Mac Virtual Display doesn't take up much processing power. You could use any M processor Mac and it will work fine. It's all about the other things that you want to do with your Mac that decide what Mac to get.

Both would be fine. For best performance make sure they are both of the same wifi band. Mac mini supports wifi 6e, but Vision only supports 6. If they are on separate bands the experience will be worse in that you’ll notice lag.

Mac Mini pro has been great for me when it comes to gaming. Playing Switch games at 4K and streaming to Vision Pro is a game changer.
