Hi all,

As many people seem to be lately I am currently wanting to decide which MacBook Pro I should buy. I want to spend at most around 2000 euros. I want to use the MacBook around 5 years.

What I am gonna use the MacBook Pro for:
- Browsing
- Watching movies
- Office-related work
- Virtual Machines

What I have in mind:
MacBook Pro 2015 15 inch 16GB ram, 256GB, Iris Pro 2 GB - 2100 euros
or
MacBook Pro 2016 13 inch non-TB, 8GB ram, 256GB, Iris Graphics 540 - 1700 euros

What I find important:
- Price/performance-ratio
- Futureproofness
- 4K ready

What are my doubts:

15 inch 2015 model
- limited graphic performance
- "old" chipset
- expensive
13 inch 2016 model
- small display
- loud cheap feeling keyboard
- No MagSafe

I am really struggling to make a final decision. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance

I would recommend a 2016 15" MBP, as you'll get a dGPU instead of an iGPU. You'll have better performance and better value for your money. The price will be higher, but at this point, I think you may be better off spending all little more and getting more computer.

I would avoid the 13" MBP for your stated needs, given that Vms use a lot of ram, and the 13" is dual core only and an inferior iGPU compared to what you can get with the 15" model.
