Would buying a 2015 15" be a bad move in 2017? Seeing as how they have a fourth generation Intel CPU?
You may notice, if you go looking for a reputably refurbished one (at least in the States), that they can be difficult to find. Apple hasn't had them for a good long while and OWC will get a couple now and then which are snapped up almost instantly.

My guess is that a lot of people have looked at the 2016 systems, laughed, and are buying refurbished 2015 units as fast as they become available, instead. Or, they're returning their shiny new 2016 systems (Apple has loads of refurbished 13" ntMBPs available), and stepping back a generation. I did that with my very first MBP, after stupidly being a first gen adopter. Went back to a PowerBook G4 in a real hurry.

If you want compatibility for displays as ZapNZs mentioned then go with the 2016. Otherwise, the 2015 is still a fine machine, if you can get your hands on one. And you can swap out the hard drive. Plus have money left over.

If you're asking about a 2015 15" vs the 2016 15", I've laid out the differences in a customer review, though it compares to the 2015 with dGPU. Without the dGPU you can save some money and no doubt some heat and fan noise, while giving up a lot of power for some tasks like video editing.

On the Apple website, the (2015) 15" does not come with a dGPU. I know I'll be losing a lot of power when it comes to tasks like video editing...however, is the (2015) 15" Iris Pro Graphics equal to, or greater then the (2015) 13" Iris Graphics 6100?

The fact that the CPU on the 2015 15" is a bigger beast then the 2015 13" has me thinking about buying the 15" over the 13"...knowing the 15" has better graphics capabilities over the 13" could seal the deal.

Yes it does it has 2x the eDRAM cache and that can be leveraged by the cpu and the GPU think similar performance to a NVIDIA 640M for the iris pro 5200 not so good for gaming but great with editing apps etc.
