Hi guys - non-techie here. This summer - with your excellent assistance - I swapped the HDD for a SSD on my 2008 Macbook and have been raving about the improvement. Now my colleague wants me to fix up her Late 2011 MBP.

I feel confident in my recommendation of the SSD (told her to get the same Crucial BX100 I got), but I don't know from what on the memory. I know she needs 8GB in a 2X4GB pair but then all the numbers confuse me. Her current set up is 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3.

Can someone smart point me in the right direction or help me understand what I'm looking at, numbers-wise, and what I need?

Thanks.
Sam.

Specifications for the model that you are helping to upgrade, here:

http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...4-13-late-2011-unibody-thunderbolt-specs.html

Here is the RAM that I put in my own system:

You can order RAM from anywhere, but I like the fact that OWC guarantee that their RAM will work with your system.

Here is a selection from Newegg, if you prefer:

Thanks. @CoastalOR - Is the difference worthwhile for a lite user? My colleague is a teacher who uses her laptop for lesson planning and basic web / office stuff. I see the MX200 writes a little faster - but will it even be a noticeable difference for her?

She probably will not notice the difference for her light usage.
