Hello, I am purchasing a Mac Studio and looking for a monitor 27" to 42" that is as bright (or brighter) than a newer 27" iMac or one of the newer Studio Displays?

My iMac is going to my wife, So using it as a monitor is not a option (plus it would be overkill)

I want to see my options before dropping 1599 on a 27" Apple monitor that i would not benefit from.

I know many people do not set the brightness that high but i am visually impaired and one of the main reasons i bought a iMac is due to the bright screen. I am looking to make the switch to a studio but want a monitor that has that same brightness as my iMac. Resolution/color detail and all that really isnt a concern for me since my bad eyes wont notice the details, I more concerned on brightness more than anything.

Thanks

I struggle with this issue as well in my very sunny office - very few consumer-grade monitors are bright enough for me to use during the day. In my experience nearly all 4k monitors on the market aren't bright enough.

The studio display, recent iMacs, LG Ultrafine 5k, and Pro display XDR are the only reasonable "retina" screens out there. I have (or have had) nearly all of them on my desk at some point. I'm now using an XDR, LG Ultrafine 5k, and M1 iMac in combination and they're all fantastic.

The only non-Apple monitor that I've found to have competitive brightness is the Dell S2719DC, and it's only a 1440p 27" monitor.

OMG lol you mention the Dell S2719DC, I have the S2719DM and i went thru maybe 10 monitors and found this one to be one of the brightest so far. Even brighter than some of the more expensive monitors on the market.

Now that they have stopped making them, i cant find them anywhere. The 1440p isnt a issue for me since i run a low res. since i need the fonts to be pretty big.
I would use a LED TV but sitting on my desk, I have found the 6 TVs i have tested, The fonts dont look all that great when siting about 2-3ft from them.

its so funny that you mention the exact model i have sitting next to me on my windows PC, lol.

Ha! I bought the Dell S2719DC a few years ago when I wasn't ready to fork over the cost for a LG Ultrafine 5k (and before cheap ones flooded craigslist). It worked great for a couple years, but now that I've gone all-retina I can't go back. My wife is happy using the S2719 with her work PC now.
