Personally, I’m really excited for the movie watching experience on AVP and intrigued by some of the 3D content that will be available, which I’ve never really been a fan of in movie theaters, but willing to give another shot in AVP. In this Disney+ AVP app announcement this week, they mentioned a handful of movies that will be available in 3D on launch day in their app. I’m guessing that when iOS 17.3 drops this upcoming week, we’ll be able to see which of the iTunes Movie Store movies are available in 3D as well, in line with some of the leaked icons for 3D content.

Curious what’s on the top of people’s list to watch on a massive simulated screen in AVP. I might do one of the recent Star Wars movies or would love to see a recent action blockbuster like Dune available in 3D.

This is the main reason I bought the AVP.

I'd like to see my favorites on Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu, Paramount +, etc...

Don't know which titles are available for 3D.....

This is from the Disney+ announcement:

With 3D movies, Disney’s storytelling will also leap off the screen like never before with remarkable depth and clarity for an unprecedented in-home 3D experience on Disney+ with Apple Vision Pro. Viewers will be able to watch dozens of popular movies in 3D, like Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental, and Encanto. More titles, including those available exclusively to Disney+ subscribers, will be announced at a later date. Apple Vision Pro users can also rent or purchase most 3D movies through the Store tab in the Apple TV app. Users who previously purchased Disney movies that include 3D versions from the Apple TV app will be able to access those 3D versions on Apple Vision Pro at no additional cost.

Definitely not Netflix, but the others should be there.

There will be over 150 3D titles at the start, so it should be quite exciting. I assume they’re referring to movies purchased on Apple (iTunes), but there will also be a lot of Disney+ content.

I unfortunately won’t be getting the AVP just yet (probably version 2), but Ready Player One is a perfect first movie to watch. It’s what I watched first in the PSVR2 (in 4K HDR).

I really think I'm going to see what the Disney+ app is all about first and then I'm going to watch Gravity and Mad Max: Fury Road

It's not 3D, and assuming the DAZN app is available, I'm going to watch the SuperBowl as big as I can make it.

(and I'm secretly hoping Apple does something spectacular, like last-minute announce they've made the game available in full immersion).

Thanks!

I don't have a Disney+ subscription but now I am thinking I should get one.

I do use the Apple TV streaming.

The article above says I can rent an Apple TV title to watch in 3D - do you know how that works ?

Yes, it’s an option in the TV app. There is a store section, and each title will generally have both a Buy option and a Rent option. Sometimes the newest releases are Buy-only, but they eventually become available to rent.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that for those that have already purchased a movie via the TV app, then they will update to the 3D movie automatically, if available.

Yes, in most cases the previously purchased version upgrades for free. That’s how 4K has worked, and it’s supposedly how 3D will work. I basically have a huge 3D collection from day 1. Now I just need the device to watch it on.
