If this image holds true which size Ipad pro will you be getting? What Storage option?
Curious to hear where most of you will be leaning.

I have been a 12.9" user since day one, and while it mostly love it there are enough times where it feels too large.

The 10.5" was progress, so if that becomes an 11" machine I probably will try that first.

A smaller bezel but same sized screen for the 12.9" is also enticing since the form factor would decrease a bit.

We shall see, but I most likely will grab the 11" model.

Similarly, I have an OG 12.9 - my parents and brother have the 10.5, and I could see going with that - especially with smaller bezels and FaceID if that made it an 11". I do like the 12.9, but as with my X vs the Pluses would like a larger screen in a smaller housing

I’m a current 12.9” user but if Apple announce a 11” redesign with Face ID and thinner bezels I will buy, storage option I will probably go with 512 unless they came out with 1TB and I’d get that one instead.

I'll stick with my 9.7 Pro for a long time, it's the traditional form factor and I really like it. However I'm pretty sure I'll be selling my 12.9 cellular gen 2 in the coming few weeks, the reduction in bezels will reduce the weight and physical dimensions whilst retaining the screen size. Then no doubt the 12.9 gen 3 will cannibalize my 9.7 usage.

7.9” ipad Mini Pro! Apple been neglecting the Mini foe some reason. It account for 18% of all iPad sales still! Guess they just don’t have the time or resources to start updating the Mini but still hopeful! It has the A8 inside it!

If the FaceID works in any orientation and works at extreme angles I’d eventually upgrade my Gen 2 12.9 to a newer 12.9. Otherwise the display and updated form factor alone isn’t enough to get me to give up TouchID for now (my corporate email security policies really lock down my device lock settings).

Definitely the 12.9 (again). I really love my Gen 1, and love the screen real estate.
Right there with you. There's no such thing as "too big" for me where my iPP is concerned. I really appreciate the split screen capabilities as well as how beautifully my studio books and magazines (lots of color photographs) display. Plus, for drawing, more screen is better from my point of view.

If that picture is right the 12.9 is barely bigger than the current 10.5. Plates with the 10.5 last weekend and it seemed too small. This will be my laptop replacement and YouTube video maker so big all the way! Probably 512 cellular. I expect to keep this a few years.

Fingers crossed we have a better keyboard and pencil 3 to sweeten the deal.

If it’s too large for consumption or tablet usage (heck I find the current 10.5 too large for the couch. My kindle fire is 8.9 and is perfect) then I’ll pray for a new iPad mini. 12.9 for work and the mini for the couch , drone remote, social media, reading etc.

If they can do 11" with the same UI scale as the 12.9" version then I'm all over that. But the 12.9" in a smaller, lighter body is also really tempting. It's going to be a tough call, but I may just wait another generation since mine is only a little over a year old. Though the chipset will be jumping forward two generations instead of one since the 10.5" used an A10X and the new one will use an A12X. Hmmm…

going to be a tough call. I've NEVER bought the bigger iPad Pro model, but if the price increase isn't major, I would consider it this time around.

EDIT: I also think they're going to slightly increase the 12.9" model to a true 13" so that they can say 11 and 13. (sizes similar to Macbook options)

Just so people understand, that picture is not to scale. If you zoom in so that the smaller iPad screen measures 11 inches diagonally, the larger "12.9 inch" screen only shows at about 11.75 inches diagonally.

To Scale comparison.jpeg

More accurate comparison of sizes.

Then they’ll go 13.3 no? So they can reuse a panel. My absolutely favorite machine was the amBA 11 and I got plenty of serious work done on it. Found the footprint on the larger one too big.

The side by side iPad apps on the larger iPad is a huge draw though.

That changes things a bit. Still. In person when I looked at the 10.5 and visualized the new rumored 12.9 dimensions the difference seemed manageable. Aspect ratio also comes into my decision. I don’t want a “long” iPad. My thinkpad In tablet mode is unable because it’s too skinny in portrait mode.

Right now my thinking is.....none. Last fall I bought the 12.9" (second iteration) to replace my first-generation one and it really is my favorite iPad, the one I choose time and time again to use while at home. Earlier in the autumn of 2017 I had also bought the 10.5" iPad and it serves me very well both at home and when going out-and-about and when traveling. Earlier this summer I bought the iPad Mini 4 for a specific purpose and am using it from time to time, too, but it really is more of an adjunct to the other two although it does at times replace the 10.5 when I'm leaving the house, as it does tuck nicely into smaller bags and purses.....

Since I am pretty well covered in iPads for the time being, regardless of what new enticements Apple may offer us, I am looking at doing something else this fall in terms of what I update in my Apple products......

Smart. Too often I get caught up in upgrade fever wanting the latest and greatest when what I have works just fine.

I’m slowly getting better. Maybe she has something to do with it or the fact that tech seems to have plateaud a bit and phones (my old addiction) are getting a bit boring and starting to resemble each other. I did get the X because, well, 10 years and I always wanted a silver back black front but truly didn’t switch over from my 7+ for 3 months. It was a great phone and I was happy with it. The X I see myself keeping and using for at least 3 years and I NEVER do that with phones

My laptops are usually on a 3 year cycle. I’m now trying to move to an IPP and desktop setup. Don’t have an iPad at all so I’m pretty excited about the new ones but once it’s bought I’ll more than likely keep it for 3 to 4 years.

Didn’t bother upgrading my series 3 Apple Watch. Still works fine.

After the iPad one thing may get me excited. A redesigned iMac or my dream machine ... an Apple TV sized Mac mini that I can chuck in my bag and take on trips. I typically move around spending 6 months in a new home base. A little OsC machine that I can pack with a keyboard and trackpad lets me take my office with me. External monitors are cheap now and I can pick one up used wherever I am.

Point is if you’re happy with what you have and eveything works well why upgrade and get into debt or have a monthly payment.

I'm also thinking about keeping my iPhone X for another year instead of automatically doing the upgrade to the newest iteration, but I want to see what Apple is going to be presenting before I make a decision about that. It's a somewhat different scenario than that with the iPads.

My Apple Watch I also updated in 2017 from Series 0 to Series 3 and I've been very happy with my choice so far. Loving it! Not going to be updating again in 2018.

At this point the 2015 15" MBP that I use every day is approaching her third birthday and also the end of AppleCare coverage so this is what I am focusing on now in terms of what I might do in terms of updating Apple gear this fall..... Moving to the 2018 MBP will definitely cause a $$$ dent in the ole pocketbook/bank account and so right now I'm weighing pros and cons......

There is another item which is not Apple-related, but which comes into play here as well: I am also considering making a shift in my photography gear as well at some time this fall, which again would involve a rather substantial $$$$ outlay for camera body and lenses, so that is another reason for not feeling an immediate urge to update my iPads, regardless of what Apple might show us in a month or two.

Have you considered replacing the MBP15 with an IPP/desktop combination or is that not an option? Perhaps even an IPad/MBA.

Maybe you need the processing power of the MBP. I don’t for my needs and what I slowly realized is that in terms of screen real estate even a 15” isn’t enough. For editing nothing beats a 24” external with my laptop being used on the side as a second mini display. So I decided to switch out my laptop to an iPad Pro for mobile work and go with a desktop for home sessions. I’ve actually started enjoying sitting at my desk and working these days.
