Which notch do you guys think we’re getting in 2020? Me personally I’m thinking #2.

I don’t understand the difference in width. The user can’t use that area anyway as it’s dedicated to system information, so it would seem that width wouldn’t matter. There’s going to be a visible notch of some sort regardless of width.

#2 then #1

Rumors say 2020 will have smaller notches but not get rid of them entirely.

Maybe we'll finally see the battery percentage.

Was hoping not to swipe. The status bar was more informative before the notch.
I find that it’s best to not get too attached to any one thing. That way, when change comes it won’t be so difficult to move on.

What can we expect? 1 or 2

What do we want ? 6

@ the user who wants to see battery percentage, a simple jailbreak tweak puts the percent inside the battery logo. Who knows why Apple wont do it.

Maybe it'll be a 2020 groundbreaking feature.

I would love to see #6, but at best, we will most likely see #3 or #4 someday - I would welcome either of those actually, especially #3.

For 2020, it will probably be #2, unfortunately.

Maybe they might not even change the notch and keep it the way it is now who knows.

In retrospect, Apple doesn’t need to ‘change/alter’ the notch. I mean, who cares about the notch outside these overly particular forums like this. It houses some of the most advanced technology, as long as it continues to evolve in terms of protecting my identity, the notch can exist as long as it needs to.

#6 but with slightly thicker bezels to fit the sensors in at the top. Hopefully not much thicker but with smaller sensors maybe they could fit it in the bezel portion being that the design will be like the iPhone 4 the glass won’t be rounded off and it’ll be flat all the way around meaning they could probably fit it right at the top bezel, if we’re lucky. One can hope.

No notch - We’ve had iPad Pro demonstrate what is possible (and shortly to be updated i imagine), this is the tech they want to progress into the next gen iPhone (12?)..

iPad Pro has a 9mm bezel that runs around the display. That's same thickness as the notch. I wouldn't consider that progress as it reduces the display area.

indeed.. but it’s also over a year old. So it’s technology that Apple would have been working on for at least 3/4 years and released when suitable for iPad. I’ve no doubt their ambition is to achieve the same with iPhone pro as iPad Pro. Hence why I expect usb c in that notchless future model.
