If you can't decide buy the one that's most popular in your circle of friends. You will have less regret. ;)

Now i may be a little bias's since i used a 2G iPhone for well over a year and half and now have a 3GS. But my room mate has a Pre and i had to use his phone to make a call a few days ago and i notice the touchscreen doesn't always register your touches which is strange because you can see the little ripple effect. After trying to dial a number the phone finally "caught up" and had several of the same digits on the display. The OS is nice but i don't think it is a fleshed out as the iPhone OS. There are several cool things within the OS but it kind of falls flat when the screen isn't responding to your inputs. Another negative is its going to be a very long while before the Pre builds an application catalog. But i would suggest you go into a store and play around with it for a few mins. If i were a sprint customer and and had no desire to switch to AT&T i would jump all over the Pre, but i cant stand Sprint more then i hate AT&T.

In my circle of friends the Blackberry phones are by far the most popular. At all the bars and clubs I go to I see far more Blackberries being used over iPhones and obviously Pres.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

I would recommend a 3gs!!!

If you get a PRE wait for it to come to another network besides Sprint.

Sprint has horrible coverage and horrible customer service.

I don't think a Sprint Signal can even go through walls.

Unless you're in the same city/region as the OP, don't make those kind of statements.

Each company's cell service varies widely, and just because [insert wireless company here] sucks where you are doesn't mean the same is true everywhere.

OP, based on what you're looking for, I would recommend the iPhone over the Pre for now. Yes, there are a lot of crap apps, but there are also a huge number of really useful, fun, interesting, and/or just plain cool apps.

I have no doubt that the Palm's app selection will get much better, though. I had Palm PDAs and Treos for years, so I'm familiar with using the 3rd party apps that had been available from places like tucows and handango. There are thousands of developers who are waiting for Palm to release their SDK later this year.

Trolling....

And before you try to defend it as an innocent question.... coming to a forum dedicated to the iphone, created so that iphone owners can discuss iphone related topics, and asking whether or not you should buy an iphone or its competition.... its kinda like asking Michelle, Sasha or Malia Obama whether you should vote for Barack or John McCain

Simply put.... why would you expect any answer aside from OMG TEH IPHONE ROX and the "PREnis" SUXorS

Did you take the time to read ANY of this thread?

Apparently not...

I would get the pre if it wasn't on Sprint. I sold my 3G to buy the Pre and I loved it but hated sprint so I bought the 3GS but I would have preferred the Pre.
