Why do you need portable speakers for a 2G touch? Doesn't the 2G come with a built in speaker? Oh yea, I almost forgot, it's crap.

    Brookstone Boom Bucket

I guess it depends on what you mean by "portable"?

I LOVE the Brookstone Boom Bucket ($150).

I mean speaker systems similar to something like a Bose Sounddock.

I would describe the JBL as serviceable and it packs in luggage quite neatly. It was the best option that I could find in a pinch at the Apple Store and it charges the iPhone 3G.

I've also owned a pair of older Sonic Impact flat panel speakers that did okay at reasonable volumes. Better than nothing and better sounding than my laptop.

Well of course Bose is gonna be the best, but also the most expensive. And they are a little overated.

The 2G touch does have a built-in speaker, but it's not great, and not very loud.

Anything but bose. Do side by side with almost anything and about any price and Bose will suck.
I would try a few next to each other and decide then.

I consider all the portable speakers to be about the same built by the higher end companies, since all the speakers are so small.

the saound is fair for the size, very portable, it has like a suround sound that make works all its four drivers, i give i a five star!

I love my JBL ontour speakers. No iPod dock, but they're great for taking along for the MacBook as well.
