I was tearing my hair out trying to get this to work (reset PRAM, signed out of iCloud on all devices, etc, etc) and eventually discovered that if I disable the firewall totally on my BT Home Hub 5 router, it works fine.

Now obviously I don't want to leave the firewall off all the time, so are there any ports I can open/forward to allow it to work?

For what it's worth, I've always had UPnP enabled, and that didn't work - Continuity/Handoff worked sometimes and not others.

With the firewall enabled, can you try enabling DMZ to your mac and see if it works.

If it does not work, it's not a blocked port issue - most likely a different firewall setting.

I thought about trying that, however when I turned the Firewall back on, before I even put anything in the DMZ, Continuity and Handoff were still working!
