I'd get the brother unit, the drum and toner cart are separate = cheaper operating costs for the long run and I've had a 7840w for ~3 years now and love it!

...the model you lists uses the came consumables as my model and newegg runs sales on brother consumables fairly frequently... use original consumables always for any makers unit so you don't void the warranty!

If you want to save on toner, remember 2 things.

1. NEVER buy in store. always go on amazon.

2. Always buy genuine, never try your luck with 3rd party cartridges

I have a 7820N and a 7840W from Brother and they are fantastic printers and never eat up too much ink.
