I want to opgrade the RAM in my macbook pro 13,3'' late 2011 (see specifications below), and I am definitely no hardware-expert.

I run After Effects cs 5.5, and it is running very slow.
The first question is of course; will it be beneficial to upgrade my RAM in order to let After Effects run faster?

If it will, which RAM should i choose for this purpose? - Which will make my computer run fastest?

The specifications of my computer:
Model: macbook pro 13,3" late 2011
Processor: 2,4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
RAM: 2 x 2 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM

Hope anyone is able to guide me in the jungle of RAM

And this is surely the right RAM for me?
- I also heard, that Apple doesn't recommend using more than 8 GB RAM in this model? - Is it a good idea to use 16 GB RAM?
They do not not recommend it, they just don't say, that 16 GB is supported. Many users here and out there have 16 GB of RAM in their 2011 MBPs and run it quite successfully, unless the RAM is bad, which can happen from time to time, but you can always return RAM and get a replacement.

While not officially supported by Apple, I have been using 16GB RAM in my late 2011 MBP for over a year now without any issues.

Should I get 8gb or 16gb

It's starting to run a bit slow now, especially photo editing. Is 16gb worth the extra £50 or so or will 8gb be plenty?
