Just to simplify the discussion
Hi folks,
since a few days, I am a proud owner of an 20" iMac Intel, a Plextor PX-TV402U (PC-Version) and EyeTV 2.0 (which is a universal binary).
All is running very fast and working fine. Only Toast 7, which still utilizes Rosetta, does not work as fast as on a G5.
In my opinion, it matters what you want to do besides watching and recording tv and what processor you got. The firewire solutions are more suitable for slower machines and do not slow down the macs´ performance noticable. The USB solutions all need a 1,4 GHZ machine as minimum for optimal results.
The second thing to think about is digital vs. analog signals. The plextor only works with analog signals, which means you have to connect it to a decoder when using it on a digital cable or satellite signal. That requires another remote control and so on...
The last thing is a remote control. The PC Version of the plextor has one, although it is not working with EyeTV at the moment. I begged Elgato to support it, because it should be not much work (it only simulates keyboard strokes). I hope they will do it ;-)
So far from me ;-) Hope it helps...
