Not sure all these paper cut-outs are especially helpful. Surely the weight and thickness of the watch are major factors too. The physical 'heft' is missing from a 2D representation.

If you like the size of the Mondaine then you'll probably want to wait for the Apple Watch Plus!

I made new cutouts---
38mm:

I think either one looks good; like on my wrist, the 42mm is big but still looks good. I think the question to ask ourselves now is, which size is more comfortable? Both fit on the wrist, but which one will be more comfortable to wear all the time? I'm leaning towards the 42mm for me, but I also like 38mm cause, as others pointed out, it is less conspicuous and not as large.

I don't, actually. I don't wear it all the time (as in all day long) because of the size and weight. Which would suggest getting the 38mm Sport, which will be the lightest. Except -- please don't all shout at me -- I just think the 42mm looks more (sorry!) masculine.

I have a 15.5cm wrist. That means the 38mm for me for sure, right? I think my cutouts printed out too small though!
Here is 42mm

Years ago I bought a Tag Heuer having only seen a picture of it. It was a smaller size. Although I liked it, I never quite got over the fact that I'd accidentally bought the ladies version.

I think I'd rather have a watch a little bit too big than a little bit too small.

I think.

My wrist is 18cm, so it isn't much bigger than yours, and I'm going for the 42mm. It really depends on what look you like best. The 42mm is going to look even bigger on your wrist, but if you're ok with that, then go for it. If not, go for the 38mm.

Where did you guys print out the watch with stuff on the screen and a strap? And for Ryan Mack's PDF, is the height supposed to be 38 and 42mm when printed out? Because mine are 35mm and 39mm

This is the 38 on me. The next post is the 42. I think the 38 fits better.

Geesh, you guys & gals are really into this.

I'm to lazy to even think about it.

I'll buy the larger one. If that doesn't work, I will either drop the idea altogether, or swap it for a smaller one. This way I don't have to fret over anything, and it also gives me the proper perspective.

It also seems pretty clear that if you have a small wrist, the small size is for you.

In case any of you have a Pebble, the size is much larger than either Apple Watch. The Pebble is 51mm tall, so if you wear one of those comfortably, I would totally suggest the 42. That's what I'll be doing, seeing as my Pebble fits my wrist perfectly.

Same thing happened to me. I initially couldn't believe how small the 38mm was, but then measured it and realized it was way off.

Generally, you don't want your lugs to nearly overhang your wrist, so I'd say your Mondaine is too large, although it's all just personal opinion, and it's hard to say without a full body shot. I'd go 38mm, in your case.

I have the Pebble, and it fits very comfortably. However the Watch is a bit wider than the Pebble.

I had to print mine out using a scale of 108% to get them to be 38mm and 42mm.

The first time I printed it, the 42mm Watch was 39mm. 42 / 39 = 1.077 so I rounded up to 108% and it worked fine.

That worked for me, too. Thanks!
