Just ordered a 16. M1 Max, 24 GPU with 32 GB Ram and 2 TB SSD. I am upgrading from a 2018 MBP with 16 GB Ram and 512 SSD. I never max out my current machine so hoping the new one is more than adequate. I do mostly coding and web stuff nothing with editing. The M1 pro would have been more than fine for me but I wanted the 400gb memory bandwidth for some reason I did not need the extra GPU cores but I guess nice to have em
My config as well. Coming from a 32GB/2TB previous gen 16” which was a replacement for a 16GB/1TB machine that was definitely maxed out; 24 GPU cores/32GB/2TB keeps some nice headroom for another few years.

Shows how much people know about computers on here with the pro 32gb being the least purchased. It’s the sweet spot. To utilise the max you need a 16 inch and 64gb of ram otherwise it’s literally bottle necked to a pro 16gpu 32gb lmao.

So the point is the 24 core gpu, 32gb ram crowd are being blown out of $200 + tax not to mention concerns about being sold seconds.
Can you elaborate as to why 32gb ram and m1 max don’t fit?

No matter how much headroom and how many years we build out for now this is first gen chip and when in 2 years apple has a 50 core M2 with 128 GB Ram as the base model we are all buying one. :) My current MBP is fine im buying this because its this.

I'm interested to know what you are basing that assertion on?

The 16 inch M1 Max 10/32 1TB 32GB is one of the off the shelf packages. Are you saying that one of Apple's off the shelf package is bottle necked ?
