I don't think intel needs to improve sequential write speeds at all. The Intel X25-M was designed to be consumer based, not professional. Thats where the X25-E comes in.

I went with the Corsair P128 here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233087&Tpk=corsair%20p128

So far it's been great. It's fast (but not Intel fast), large enough to be usable (80GB just didn't work for me) and runs relatively cool. It has the latest Samsung controller which is what got me on board. The rebate (last week, since ended) was icing.

It was $299 A/R ($40 Visa Card) last week. Maybe another deal is in the offing. Also many rumors of a sharp cut in SSD prices + expanded sizes in the coming weeks. This is the one thing I hate about being an early adopter - when you buy know it's like trying to catch a falling knife.

The Enterprise values iops (inbound outbound operations) over all so I know the write speeds aren't about any superfluous consumer/professional designation.

Intel has designed their SSD to perform well in some key areas and I hope they are able to improve their next revision in all areas.

I can wait for SSD but I will go ahead and order my MacBook Pro because the free printer offer ends around July 20. It's another $100 free stuff....
it's kinda sad they don't extend it with the iPod touch promotion.... which last to Step...

X25-M is okay as we know it's average user not professional (which extreme takes the place).

TRIMP. If I buy these SSD, will any of them support TRIM later (via firmware update)?? I am planning to run WIN7 and Snow together on my Mac.

I noticed the performance for Intel is relitvely good on application like Adobe and Windows. That's being said, it's always that way.

The intel ssd is a by far the best , power consumption , random read's and writes and reliability,

i have owned the following in order.

32gb ocz solid
64gb patriot warp
128gb S128 corsair
128gb gskill falcon
120gb ocz summit

1xintel 80gb

now i run 2x intel 80gb and the speed is fantastic.

i program mobile apps in visual studio 2008 through virtual machines, the space is not an issue but the speed has to be very fast.

overall the intel drives single or double are fantastic and out due there counterparts.

What is the difference between the write and read speed?
I mean what is the difference between the two? Read is load, then write is create?
What about audio and video editing. Which category does compression and extract fit in?

P128 and 1.7 firmware?

I just ordered this same drive. Very excited.

I do have a concern… I have a mid 2009 MacBook Pro, and haven't applied the 1.7 firmware yet as many people seem to be having problems with it. Does anyone know if this drive works with the mid 2009 MacBook Pros with the 1.7 firmware installed? Any freezes or hang ups?

Hey guys, I'm in the same boat here. Want to order my new MBP 13.3 by july 18th.

I am between the Intel 80 gb ( 80 gb is actually a bit low for me ), but seems it's very reliable, and the OCZ vertex 120 gb which I don't know about the reliability but it has more space.

Do you guys have some suggestions ? I think I can pay 400 USD.

Thanks :)
