personally...

corsair force 3 in an early 2011 macbook (i7, 2.3) with no problems. both of my sata controllers support 6Gb, but my macbook would not boot with my corsair in my optibay.

i think you would be better served by a search to find people with your model running SSDs successfully.

Intel and Samsung are on top in terms of reliability. Performance is pretty good as well.

If you're looking for Mac specific support, OWC pretty much is the only manufacturer who makes SSDs geared specifically for Mac owners. They even have a OS X firmware update utility, something you don't get with other manufacturers.

I bought a new 512gb Toshiba/Apple SATAII (pulled) drive off eBay and paid just under £500. The SSD was TRIM enabled from factory, and start up time is always about 17 secs.

Couldn't be happier.

At first I was adamant I wanted a SATAIII drive (Crucial or Samsung) but with all the teething problems people have had I decided to go with the Toshiba/Apple branded one and I am glad I have stuck with SATAII.

Just in case others look up this thread. The Sandisk Extreme SSD appears to be working flawlessly on my MacBook. I'm surprised more people are not looking at this drive.

sata iii will run fine in sata ii slot. It will reduce the speed but will still be very very fast.

I have a 256GB Crucial M4, and have had zero issue with it, would highly recommend it, especially at the price they go for.

Yes, you can use a SSD Sata III drive with your MBP. I'm unsure if you particular model supports Sata II or Sata III but these drives are backwards compatible so it will work, it just may not work at full speed.
Upgrading from the existing hard drive to an SSD will make a noticeable improvement to how your MBP performs, regardless of whether it is running at Sata II or III speeds.
As for which of those two drives, I don't have any experience with them so cannot say. Lots of people have had good success with the Samsung 830 range or the Crucial M4. I would probably look at those two drives first.

I think I personally would go for the OCZ Agility since it is the newer drive but because I'm unsure of the exact specification of your MBP, the Crucial c300 may be the safer choice as it is less likely to have any compatibility issues.
