I was having an argument with an old friend of mine today about which Enterprise starship was the best. His vote was for the Enterprise NCC-1701-D. I thought the ship was rather ugly. My favorite is the NCC-1701-A. Simply a classic starship and in my opinion, the most beautiful Enterprise starship.

So which one's your favorite???

I sort of like the harem that was in the captain's quarters on the original NCC-1701 -- plus the miniskirts were a bit better than some of the later uniforms.

Sort of a little sad they didn't have spandex yet.

I am not nearly well-versed enough in Star Trek to address the name of the Enterprise version by version number/letter.

I particularily liked the version featured in the last multi-part episode of the NG series. This was the version commanded by an old(er) Riker, which featured a cloak and a gigantic laser-beam thing.

I have always been impressed by large lazer-beams. Or it could just be a positive association with a good episode. Whatever.

NCC-1701-B was the best, featured in Generations, but the Defiant class was more interesting.

Don't know the NCC number, but the one in the series finale of TNG where Riker comes back from the future. Sweet. Then again, maybe it was just the scene I liked...

Gotta vote for A - just something classic about it. The later ones were more flashy in some respects, (although I don't care for D), and I too like the alternate Enterprise from "All Good Things...", but my vote goes for good old NCC-1701-A.

My favorite is the one I grew up with, the original Enterprise (NCC-1701). I may have liked other crews on other ships more, but the original Enterprise always felt like home.

Of course if we weren't restricting this to Star Trek, I would have to say that the USS Enterprise CV-6 would rank right up there. ;)

I have to say that Enterprise NCC-1701-D was my favorite. I grew up watching TNG. In fact, when they wrecked it Generations I got upset  I left the theater saying, "I can't believe they wrecked the damn ship." After about a half hour of whining my wife told me to shut the hell up, it was only a movie :D She just doesn't understand the attachment one feels to their starship! ;)

You have something against "nuclear wessels"? (USS Enterprise CVN-65) ;)

Personally, I love the Enterprise-D. You just can't beat it for shear posh and elegance. If I had to travel in space, that's the way I'd want to do it. My second vote would go to the original (gotta love the 1960's retro theme).

I shed a tear when i saw the Enterprise go down in Generations. Just wasn't right. I still feel sad :(. Luckily I still have my "Interactive Technical Manual" from 10 years ago, which lets me go almost anywhere on the ship in Quicktime VR :D. ...Yeah, I'm a Star Trek geek.

Although I grew up with TNG, I didn't like the ship too much. That's why I was full of expectation when it was destroyed. And I can still remember when the whole audience in the cinema (including me) gave a phenomenal applause when we saw the Enterprise E. Therefore, this ship is my favorite.

The Enterprise-D was the worst one. One feature I always joked about is having the bridge separate from the saucer section when things got bad with the Romulans or Borg. Enterprise-A was the best. Enteprise-E is a huge improvement in the right direction from -D.

I wonder if we will see a new Enterprise design in the next 10 years from the movies or TV?

The mere title of this thread removed any remaining shadow of doubt I had about the MR community being anything other than just another collection af geeks (albeit ones with excellent taste in computing platforms). :p

Oh, and I gotta go with D.

Oh no, I think she is a great ship. It is just that at one point during WWII the Enterprise was the only carrier in the Pacific. The bulk of the Pacific fleet lost at Pearl Harbor and all other carriers lost or taken out of commission by Japanese engagements, the Enterprise was literally the only thing that stood between the Japanese and our west coast and western frontiers. The crew of the Enterprise put up a banner in the hanger deck that read "Enterprise vs. Japan"... which summed it up.

CVN-65 was never tested to that point... no US carrier has since.

But as far as carriers are concerned, having grown up in Coronado the USS Constellation (CV-64) was the one I was most attached to. It was hard to watch her be decommissioned... specially as she was still in top form.

 As for "nuclear wessels", it would have been nice if they could have actually had the Enterprise play the Enterprise in Star Trek IV. But the Enterprise is an East Coast ship.

OLD geeks at that. Man, I was THERE when 1701 came out! ST peaked with NG, then slid slowly to the recent low-point "Enterprise", which is almost unwatchable.

Nothing, and mean NOTHING, beats the good 'ol NCC-1701-A. To me the design looks much more realistic and more thought-out than the later enterprises, and it just "feels" cooler... Just my $0.02 ;)

Ships

Personally my favouite ST ship is the defiant, but if I have to ppick an enterprise, I'd have to go for the Enterprise C.
Not seen too much, but I did like the mock up in the ST:TNG episodes

Oh well here comes geekdom forever.

And I thought I'd have escaped that for another few years...

lol

Don't be ashamed! I like ST becasue to me it's almost in ideal future. No hunger, no racial tension, no republicans.... Well, not many anyway.
It's utopia, and I love to escape on occasion.
