Behind You
I just wanted to get an idea of what most of you people out there are using to get past the AT&T fees($45+etc.) and keep there unlimited data plan and there phones battery life optimal.

I hear iTether is awesome and then I hear MyWi is even better. So which is it?

I don't use/need any of the extra features offered by the above apps so the commcenter patch works just fine for me.

This. I don't really have a use for a Wi-Fi hotspot as the only thing I would tether would be my computer. If I have that, I have my sync cable, too, so MyWi is a waste of $20 for me.

mywi is crap. go for iTether. just released. you get better battery life than what mywi does to your ip4 battery life.

Where can I download itether and pdanet ?
I have cydia but I didn't see it there

i don't believe itether is out yet? not sure. check in cydia. has to be there. author of program is at ibluever.blogspot.com

for pdanet, just go to the company's webpage.

MyWi is clearly the best. This isn't even a discussion. If you favor something else over it, you're just a cheapskate.

MyWi 4.0, because its free.

I have a new contract, so I do the lazy-man's method -- flip tethering to "on" under Settings.

They are a little different too, for some people one would always be better than the other one, MyWi is a mobile hotspot (so if you want to connect multiple devices at the same time, this would be your choice), I tether works great if you have an iPad, better battery life for your phone and your iPad while tethering over Bluetooth, if you are tethering a laptop, pdanet may be a better choice, you would want to use the USB tether while paying less for the application.

In my case, I think I am geting both, iTether and MyWi (once they release the Rock free version). I can use iTether when only suing my iPad, and them use MyWi when using my laptop + iPad.

Well I downloaded MyWi so i've got it now.

I have to say it's pretty impressive, I'm going to try the other ones(iTether, PDANet) tomorrow and see how those go but I guess so far my vote is on MyWi.

If you have an iPad you need to use MyWi to tether, which sucks. Because you have to install Rock to use it. And Rock sucks.

Native via Commcenter Hacking. Have iPad 3G so I don't need iTether ;)

Not a big fan of Rock and until MyWi stopped forcing me to install that steaming pile of ****, I will always use other method.
(This applies to My3G too... I use 3G unrestrictor which also works with Facetime over 3G)

+1! after a few days of trying to use mywi, I finally deleted it and rock. I did the commcenter hack last night and it works perfectly, not to mention far better battery life!

Most people need tethering on their phones for their non-3g iPad. IF you choose anything but itether for this purpose you are tripping balls

I prefer MyWi 4 for it's flexibility. Battery usage is much better under with version 4, but I admit that it's still a little bit buggy.
