Do you avoid the AT&T fees by using the Commcenter patch? I always assumed that since you are using the native tethering AT&T would know. I was using native tethering without a problem up until AT&T started allowing tethering. I was going to use MyWi on my iphone4, but would much prefer the "native" tethering if I will not be charged for using it.

The patch just tricks the phone into thinking tethering is enabled by the carrier. Tether wont be added to you plan and as a bonus, you can stick with the unlimited (5GB plan).

If it makes any difference, MyWi does just about the exact same thing as native tethering but it's a little more configureable and shows more statistics.

MyWi does add some great functionality, like the WiFi ad-hoc, but is less stable and draws more power. If it meets you needs, native tethering is the most stable solution.

mywi was great until the update. now its crap! I have sent them an email at customer service and they have not responded yet and it was Monday when I sent it.

I have not tried the other options.

I didn't really like PDANet all that much, but iTether was interesting. The only problem was that you cant connect to multiple devices(blue-tooth obviously).

So I think I'll be sticking with MyWi when I'm connecting multiple devices.

Maybe somebody on this board can help. What issues are you finding with MyWi? 4 has been much better then 3 for me, but do have some issues.
If it seems to be running slow, try a reboot of your phone. If you are having trouble connecting other devices, try disabling/enabling the wifi adapter on the guest device.

been there done that many times! the update messed up the app. I was tethering perfectly for hours and hours prior to the update using usb to my desktop and using at minimum one laptop wirelessly at the same time. now 90% of the time it takes multiple reboots just to get it to work. and then it will shut off several times per hour. wifi hardly ever works at all. and the thing that really makes me mad is no response from them. I understand everything is not always perfect but they can at least acknowledge the email. and I am not the only one having the same issues. there are several members on this site with these issues as well as at least one other forum discussing this in great detail. they take your money but put out a product with problems...........

I'm using TetherMe (available on Cydia for $2).

Works great. Doesn't allow you to make your phone a WiFi hotspot though, but that's not something I need anyways. There's no icon or app installed with it, but it enables native built-in tethering. If you download a tethering SBSettings toggle also, you're all set to go.

Works perfectly :)

Tetherme is cool, but I"m waiting for them to release the wifi tethering app for $2.00. Musclenerd said on his twitter that the next $2 app will do wifi tethering too. :D

Tetherme is a fantastic solution. I purchased the other day when a storm took out my cable for a bit. I can't wait to get a hold of that nonrock wifi tethering option you're talking about.
