Which upgrade is better: 7200 HDD or 2.66 GHz?

I'd get the i7 and sell the harddrive..or keep the hdd, and get a cheap ssd and optibay..

I would say if you hadn't of bought either atm, then go with the i7. As you have ordered the i5 though, I reckon stick with it. You'll have the returning hassle to deal with.

Also where abouts are you located? Won't you have to pay a restocking fee if you're in the USA?

so the eBay auction price dropped even further, so it came down to a $115 difference (upgrades: HR Glossy --> HR Matte, i5-->i7, 256->512MB), so i bit the bullet and bought it. the only downside is it has the 5400rpm HDD< but i can upgrade that for ~$100.

i will have to deal with the inconvenience of returning the Macbook pro i ordered, but from my understanding, the restocking fee only applies if i open the box (and i haven't even received the shipment yet).

i'm actually going to start a new thread to ask a question about what i should do with my i5 (i'm considering reselling it).

if you could only upgrade one or the other, the 7200 rpm hd would make a much more noticeable difference.
