Hey, I just ordered a Macbook M1 16GB/2TB.

I'm also about to order a PixelBook Go as a second machine.

I need a portable USB C dock that can output 4K 60Hz.

Is this Anker unit a good choice for both laptops?

Also, can I add several hard drives and a webcam to one USB 3 hub, the connect this Hub to the Anker dock, reliably?

If so, would it need to be a powered dock?

Thanks

I have read other users say positive things about Anker making good USB-C Hubs. I have a NOVOO USB-C Hub which I have been pleased with and it has been reliable if you want another recommendation. I have been able to add a webcam to my hub without any issues, although I use a stand 3.0 USB to do it. I wouldn't think there would be an issue to add a hard drive to it if it has enough ports to do so.

Reading around, it sounds like standard USB C docks struggle to do 4K + 60Hz?

Thunderbolt would be an option for my Mac, but not my Chromebook.

Therefore, connecting my monitor to the second port on each device would make more sense?

Resend us you have or planning to go 10g in your network the OWC Thunderbolt Pro Dock because it’s the only one sold right now that has a 10g port on it!

It’s cheap enough to do it:

So if you want to stay in the 6 world then get the Dlink thunderbolt 3+ Dock!
