Hey guys, there are two used macbook pros i think are good deals. If they are not, let me know. I don’t know which to buy. I am a graphic designer.

For $1400 CAD i get a 2015 15” Retina core i7, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd

Or

For $950 CAD i get a 2013 15” Retina with dedicated Geforce Card, core i7, 8gb ram (will upgrade myself) and 256 gb ssd.

Please let me know which is the better deal and if it is worth getting? Thanks!!

You can't upgrade RAM on any retina MacBooks Pro. The last one with upgradeable RAM was the classic MacBook Pro 2012 model.

Do you need a dGPU? I'd say the 2015 is a better deal on a couple of levels. First its newer, and 1,400 is a decent price. you get more ram and a faster processor. Apple recently announced that the 2012 MBPs are moving into Legacy, so support will be limited to non-existence. I say this because 2013 could be close behind. You'll have long support with updates and parts for the 2015 if you need them.

Nope, no can do. What you see is what you get with apple ram.

The 2015 would be a better deal, basically for the reasons maflynn listed above. Yes, you'd lose on the dGPU, but honestly the 750M in the 2013 is not night and day faster than the Iris Pro in the 2015 and it's an old card anyway, so not a big deal. Having more RAM and (likely) a couple more years of official support takes the cake.
