Which Version is Newer?

Im totally confused on this regarding MPlayer. i have downloaded two different versions yet i can't determine which is the latest and best version.

MPlayerOSX Version 1.0pre8
or
MPlayer OS X 2 Versino 2.0

anybody?

Mplayer OS X 2b8r4 (r5 for Tiger) is the latest release according to the Sourceforge site.

As you may know, development of MPlayer OS X is moving along several paths. Two of them have similar names and share the same icon. MPlayer OS X - 2.0b8r5 is the most recent version of the older MacOS X port of the opensource media player. It was released on 2005 May 20. The most recent version of the newer and slimmer port is MPlayer OS X - 1.0pre8rc3. It was released on 2005 July 26. My personal experience indicates that the latter port is more stable on MacOS X 10.4.2.

thanks, that was the confusing part for me, it appeared that 2.0 would of course be more current but after reading about it the latter seemed to be depsite the version number.
