Hey guys. Just curious as to which bands you guys are thinking of getting for your watch?
I'm planning on getting a Sport with a white strap and a black strap, and a standard stainless steel one with the Milanese loop strap for evening wear!
Though of course having no idea of prices for the UK, my plan may change.
I'd be interested to see if they make a black Milanese loop to match the black stainless watch, but unfortunately doesn't look like they will.
Leather loop or classic buckle.
Probably would get the milanese loop or the taupe leather with stainless steel. I doubt I'd bd able to afford the rose gold watch.
Since the Sport is the only one in my price range, I guess I'm forced to take a rubber one. I'll take black, but likely sell it immediately.
I will be wearing the dark blue leather loop with the space grey Sport.
Assuming the stainless steel watch is around $500, I'll be buying a white plastic band for the gym and a stainless steel version for work.
I want the space black stainless steel link bracelet.
Blue leather loop. In 38mm size - but it has not shown it on the website at all. Only the 42mm. Hope it is available in both sizes. Going to pair it with a space grey stainless steel watch
Bright Blue Leather
Either the white Sport band, or the stainless steel link bracelet if the normal Apple Watch is affordable.
I'll probably be buying the 38 mm Sport edition with the Blue Sport Band, and a Milanese Loop for when I'm feeling fancy or I want want to show off.
Watch here I come!
Lets all stop kidding each other and ourselves. We're totally going to end up with a pile of bands on our desks.
I plan on buying a sport band and something dress-y that I can quickly change-out depending on the activity of the day.
If I was going to purchase a first generation Watch, I'd get a Milanese Loop with a Sport.
That is probably true. I know I will want a rubber one for every day use, but also a nice one for a formal setting.
This is why I'm getting one of the leather ones. Comfortable for everyday wear, but formal enough when the need arises.
What I've noticed from the Apple detailed descriptions is that the band-to-watch linking mechanism is either aluminum, steel, or gold making the 'choices' more selective if you are going for a coordinated 'look'. This seems like a way to sub-differentiate the models. For instance, if memory serves, the Sport only has rubber with no band upgrades. The steel starts with rubber but has many upgrades.
My point is that while you 'can' put a Milanese strap on a sport , those steel inserts won't match the aluminum.
Your point correct and valid. Apple is definitely positioning the Sport as the low end starter model. If you want dress looks (and sport) you will need to move up and buy the SS aWatch.
Hopefully we will see 3ed party dress type bands (leather) to be offered with aluminum fasteners at launch.
Thankfully, I don't wear a watch
I haven't done so for over 30 years and can't see that changing any time soon. I seem to manage to be on time more than most, none the less.
The word 'watch' is mostly just syntax, don't you think. I stopped wearing a watch and carrying a treo back in the day.
The reason I will move forward and wear an awatch is the promise of more immediate relationship with information that I carry in my hand with my iPhone. I'm hoping it becomes freeing- in that I can keep my iPhone in a pocket maybe 30% of the time that I now hold it.
But design and personal design statement have to count for something or we'd all be walking around in loin cloth. So the band seems really a center point - work/play/socializing. It's a way to 'disguise' the technology to allow it be personal.
I'll be getting the stainless steel Apple watch since i figure it will match more of the metal clips and what not on the bands. Otherwise i would go for the darker metal
The Apple Watch will be no more a watch than the iPhone is a phone. It is a computer on your wrist that happens to have timekeeping functionality among the many other capabilities.
My first choice would be the space grey anodised sport model with the black sport strap. Personally I'm not bothered and would wear that on any type of occasion. That said I might also get one of the leather straps, probably black as an alternative.
I fancy the stainless steel strap or the milanese strap.
You really don't though...
This is why I'm choosing the leather loop! It, imho, has classy looks.... AND shows no metal (just the blue or brown leather), and thus, should pair fine with aluminum.
