Do you have benchmarks to prove this claim?

Safari has access to hardware acceleration through iOS, they don't allow other browsers to access that.

"Mobile Safari, the default browser in iOS, uses a Javascript engine called Nitro, which in turn uses a technology called "just-in-time" compilation, or JIT, to execute scripts more quickly. The technical details aren't too important here — John Gruber has a good explanation here, if you want it — but the effects are. JIT makes Nitro faster, and Nitro makes Mobile Safari faster. This is great, if you're using Mobile Safari." --- BuzzFeed

Perfect browser is not slow by any stretch. I can wait a half second if that is even the difference with safari.

Every web page I have tried goes to the font size I am using, 130, but not the desktop version of yahoo's home page. Weird.

Safari, just loaded the font size bookmarks from other forums and I can adjust text on the fly. Works great for me

I tried alternative browsers on my iPhone for a while and then went back to safari for the speed. I just realized I had the pro version of Mercury and downloaded it--I like it a lot! Fast and it remembers my font size settings. I only visit a few sites so no global option is okay. I was getting really annoyed by having to resize the font every page on safari. My vote is for Mercury. I'd try Perfect but it's $3 :)

Eta: love the multi touch gestures for swapping tabs (although the preset was counterintuitive to me and I had to swap directions) and setting a gesture for reloading a tab, as refresh is my most used button!

Thats hot! Now they just need a windows/mac version

I use Perfect Browser quite successfully on my iPad mini.

For web browsing I do prefer my Nexus 7 for a few reasons.

It runs Googles Chrome Browser, it's performance & functionality is more like the desktop version of Chrome. An experience that cannot be duplicated on Apples mini.

Then there's the much higher ppi ratio of the Nexus 7, one of the most noticeable all around advantages in the N7's favor.

Since I'm not a fan of mobile apps for everything, the near desktop browsing experience is a big advantage for my purposes.

At the end of the day, they are both quite nice, it's simply a matter of individual preferences.

"Which web browser app are you using for the iPad mini"

None. Tried several browsers and Opera made it look best, but finally decided the Mini just isn't there yet.

You should be able to; however, Mercury is free and you can change the font size (but thats only if you haven't already bought iCab).

No, not yet. My GF has a Mini and when I did I tried other browsers which seemed to suffice BUT this one has good reviews when I googled for opinions. Might be a sleeper. $2.00 is not outrageous and I'll be using her mini from time to time so it may end up being worth it.

The reviews I came across I saw nothing about increasing font size though.

I tried mercury but went back to safari. Mercury was nice looking but on some pages it would not play an embedded youtube video and also would open up a duplicate tab when I would click on a link. Very annoying.

I've found I'm using Safari with the font bookmarklets more and more.

It works well, and is so so easy to use, with the font + and font - as my first 2 on my bookmark bar. Considering its not all sites that need enlarged font I don't mind doing it when needed.

Yeah. It's sexy, and feature rich. But it's also glitchy. I get the same double tabs, and also get unexpected shutdowns, along with the YouTube failures. (Identical problems on both the mini and the 4)

Gonna keep it loaded since it was free temporarily. But what a pain to babysit. Hopefully it is fixed someday. Definitely a better UI.

I use Chrome, I like to be able to sync my bookmarks from iMac to my iDevices.
