I'd go with the stainless steel since it has a sapphire screen and goes better with a greater variety of bands.
Yes. Again assuming as someone mentioned above, cost difference doesn't matter to you.
To me, the color of the band is not the issue, because you can always swap it out with different band later. The SS version just look so much better in my opinion, and the sapphire face is definitely a big plus.

I'm a sport guy. It's where the smarter money goes because there is no functional difference between Sport and regular other than case and sapphire glass. (I'm not anal and don't have nightmares involving me scratching my watch beyond recognition. I've never scratched a watch. I've bloodied up my arms in goofy falls running. I've scraped my rims parallel parking. I scuffed brand new shoes first time out. I've never scratched the glass of a watch. I think the odds are incredibly low.)

If you're not worried about the cost difference, keep the stainless with the band color you prefer. My preference is white. 😉
The stainless might get scratched, but less chance it will dent or develop gouges. The sapphire crystal won't scratch as easily (if at all) as the ion glass will. Yes, you can buy screen protectors and cases, but I think that's ridiculous for a watch and the cost of those would reduce the difference in price between the two models anyway. The sport may look sportier, but the stainless absolutely looks classier.

Personally, I think black is too generic. I personally am going to avoid a black watch band.
I really like my Sport White sport band combo. Although I may consider green and pink bands as well.
