I like that some of the icons like Notes and Calendar were refreshed, but they're still slightly 3D. I also like the new Finder icon, I know people will shun me for that. I think I just like new icons, regardless of being flat or not.

I think my ultimate issue with the Finder icon is the difference in stroke widths--in the old one the mouth, eyes and divider were all balanced, now depending on how you look at it the mouth and eyes seem too thick or the divider too thin.

I agree, the finder icon is a mac classic and it doesn't feel like the older ones. They could have kept the black "line" in the middle with the nose and stuff.

A list of icons before and after would be appreciated. Not all of us has Yosemite installed.

Ironically some people have proposed just that and apparently misrepresented the Yosemite icon:

It's difficult to say. I prefer one or two icons in Mavericks and below, though would I want them in Yosemite? No - I'd prefer them to all match, as they do in 10.10.

Overall, I think the appearance is much improved, so will take one or two slightly worse icons (Game Centre is the only one I don't really like).

I sure hope the new iTuns comes out in the next DP or so. Oddly it is the most Yo incompatible App I have.

I hope we get a new iTunes soon. Maybe they'll rewrite large portions of the code and make it run better while they're working on the UI. :O

All except finder and facetime. Maybe notes. Some are just lightyears better, like trash.

Too bad the actual finder icon doesn't look like the one on the right. That's a big improvement but that one they used is slightly worse.

Does anyone have that version of the yosemite icon in 1024 x 1024? Would appreciate it!

Is it just me, or does the Activity Monitor and Terminal icons look like they're on an iPad?

To me it's amazing how the biggest loss of "depth" comes not from toning down the gradients et al but shifting the 3D view on the rectangular icons like TextEdit and Reminders. I don't think I really like it but overall I think the design language is a lot more tempered and subtle than iOS 7. Also interesting: some icons have gotten far simpler (Safari) but others have in many ways gotten more intricate designs (System Prefs.)

The way I see it, every application icon I currently have on my computer will at least work decently with the new design language; some will work well and some will be updated to work well. But none will look truly out of place unless they looked out of place already. So by those respects the transition is a success.

Any reason why you can't add it yourself? Would it be problematic with people deleting poll answers?
