yeah im positive it was the 17 but now im begining to think that it didnt have them because the keys were set lower in the bottom of the laptop so there wouldn't be a need for them... i am almost positive that the screen doesn't touch the keys also..

DDR RAM

It's been a good 3 or 4 years since I bought a mac, and now that the PB is on the way, I noticed that it's RAM is DDR. Does this mean that 512 DDR RAM is equivalent to 1024 of ordinary RAM?

This is probably a really silly question, but I just thought I'd show my ignorance...

?

Answer to DDR Ram

DDR ram means Double-Data Rate. It just runs at a faster speed and can push data thru quicker. It is 10 fold better than regual pc 100 or 133 ram. You will notice quite a difference with DDR ram. So, 512 is not equivalent to 1024 or pc100 ram. I ordered my 17incher with a gig of ram because ram is one of the most important speed enhancements you can invest in. I think it's worth the extra couple hundred.

Yeah, I thought maybe it was twice the speed because of it being 'double' data rate... So it's less than double the speed of standard Ram then?

Shame, in Australia the extra Ram is more than $600.

<edit> I just found out from my reseller that I can get the 512MB DDR ram for $295, even though Apple Australia are still asking $660 for it. I'm definitely going to get it now, but will wait til the machine arrives since it may even be a lower by then...</edit>
