I've dismissed the notion that the 27" iMac update (which I do believe will be 30") would get white bezels. However I think this now could happen in one scenario only. They also release a 30" iMac Pro model in darker colors.

I hate the idea of this happening because we shouldn't have to pay more just to get that darker color. But this feels like something Apple would do. For example a $2000 base model 30" iMac in pastel colors and then a $2,500 base model iMac Pro in darker colors.

Hopefully this won't be the case but I could see Apple pulling something like this off.

Why are you so fixated on bezel colors ?

Get a job at Apple and change their design to fit your color fixation.
I’m simply discussing how the larger iMac could in fact get white bezels. Given the new MacBook leaks this is a trending coming to Apple in the future.

I more and more believe the 30" will be called the iMac Pro and therefore will likely only come in Space Grey and Silver.
I mean that could happen absolutely. But I don't think they would do that and make the base model far more expensive than say the current 27" base model iMac.

I understand that you want to discuss this but if the forthcoming "iMac Pro" has white bezels then there's nothing you can do about it except not purchase it. People just don't care as much as you think they do about the white bezels. I want a working tool. Whichever color the bezel will be won't hamper my workflow and I doubt it will hamper other's either.

The "best" base 27" is $2299 for the Core-i7, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD and 5550XT GPU so I think Apple would be okay if that was the price of the base iMac Pro with the same RAM and SSD since an M1X should shame the Intel CPU and it will either have more on-die GPU cores or Apple will pair it with a dGPU (either Lifuka or continue to use AMD for another generation).

Mind you, I am hoping it's $1999. :)

I don’t believe there is any chance that (all) the larger iMac models will have white bezels. This ain’t about me. Most people doing color corrective work don’t want white bezels.

Uh I do color corrective work for a living. You couldn't be more wrong. You're speaking up for people saying what they don't want when you're not watching them work. Don't say MOST PEOPLE unless you have concrete evidence or facts.

The majority of people doing professional video, photo, and corrective work use black or dark bezels. This is indeed a fact. Your insistence and anger on this fact is truly bizarre mate.

Anger? Not angry at all. Is that some defensive response from you because you can't prove your outrageous statement? You seem bitter because you're not getting the forum to agree with you so I'm out. 🙄

Mate plenty of people agree with me and have on this forum regarding the idea that there will be a dark bezel on a future larger iMac. I’m just not getting angry about it as you clearly are.

Personally the white bezels look a bit bad. On the iMac, it’s just ok, although black would look better. But on the MacBook Air? That’s terrible. On the iMac? Just fine. I’m a fan of black bezels, matches the iPhone.

Presently the only two things Apple sells with a choice of white or black bezels are iPod Touch and iPad, and that depends on chassis colour. Grey or black gets you black and other colours get you white. All other mobile devices have black bezels.

Since their redesign a few years ago all MacBooks have black bezels. The next redesign, expected later this year, remains to be seen: will they retain black bezels or will they adopt the new iMac’s white bezel scheme? I serious doubt they will offer both.

Presently a vocal minority are losing their minds over the new iMacs white (or light grey) bezels. There is a lot of tea leave reading, rationalizing and just plain wishful thinking to assert Apple will absolutely have black bezels on the new bigger iMac or at least an upper tier model to satisfy the tastes of “professionals.”

They just ditched an iMac Pro. Now it isn’t impossible to reintroduce another one given they dropped the iPad Air awhile back then brought it back redesigned. Will they do that with the iMac? Maybe.

It’s possible the big iMac could have black bezels and the bigger device is aimed at a slightly different market. This appears based on the assumption the 24in. iMac cannot be a “serious” machine because it has colour options and white bezels—no real computer would have that goes the thinking.

A company can opt to diversify one of its lines where it didn’t before. But in this case: why? The iMac has long been marketed as one line where the only distinctions were specs and display size. They could now start to do it differently, but is it likely? As said above they had an expensive iMac Pro and pulled it, so would they reintroduce that given a Pro line tends to be priced significantly over the regular line?

I think it far more likely the new iMac lineup will parallel the previous one where the distinction is in specs and display size. It was a winning strategy so why fix something not broken? As such a new big iMac, whether called a Pro or not, isn’t going to be priced into the stratosphere like the old one.

Will the big iMac have black bezels? Maybe, but I seriously doubt it if the distinctions between models remains only specs and display size. Apple has spent years market researching and designing the new iMac—they probably know better than so many second guessers.

The evidence for white bezels is presently stronger than the rationalizing for black bezels.

People who hate their bezel colors can either:
1. not buy a Mac anymore.
2. decal / vinyl cover the bezels.
3. spray paint the bezels, chin and back.
4. put your Mac in a picture frame with whatever floats your boat.

I expect the next MacBook / MacBook Air that Prosser says will come in the same colors as the 24" iMac will go to white bezels.

I expect the 14" and 16" MacBook Pros to stay with black bezels.

I could see Apple differentiating "consumer" and "professional" models in part by offering more colors on the "consumer" models like the iPhone, iPad Air, MacBook (Air) and iMac with the "professional" models having a more-restricted color palate of Space Grey and Silver like on the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro and iMac Pro (with the iPhone Pro having Gold and one additional color because it is the iPhone).

White bezels or black, I would like to see the bigger iMac also in colours

I am now starting to believe colors will be one of the ways Apple differentiates "consumer" and "professional" models in the line-up (see my post directly above) so in such a scenario, the iMac Pro will only come in Space Grey and Silver.

It is quite possible. But fingers crossed.
